M Mirrors for Facelift E46 Latest News

Factory has confirmed that the M style mirrors are now available for facelift E46 with twin ribbon type connectors. They will fit cars made between May 2003 and December 2004. I am getting some coupe samples in so who wants to try it out first? [cool

Please note they do not fit E46 manufacturered after December 2004 as BMW changed the wiring loom and connector to a different single one again.

M5 ones are slightly bigger and less pointy than the M3 ones:

but really unless you park your car next to a M3 they are all the same to the untrained eyes...but I guess all people on the forum got skilled eyes already :p :p

My car is a facelift and was registered in December 2004. These should fit then shouldnt they? How much Teddy?

everyone who's got a facelift coupe or convertible is welcome to come to mine and try them to see if the plugs are compatible. The only difference to the prefacelift mirrors is the wiring looms and connectors, the housing and baseplate remain unchanged.

Hi i have 330Ci December 2004 sport, will the M mirrors be electrically folding?

you need to make sure your car still has the twin connectors, not the single flat head connector BMW put on the last batch of E46 produced.

Hi Teddy,

Newbie here. Just discovered this excellent forum and I am learning new stuff everytime.

Was wondering what's the status of the M3 Foldable Mirrors for FL E46 Saloon/Sedan with the ribbon cable.

I opened my door panel (passenger side) over the weekend and my ride has a single ribbon cable. The white ribbon cable has 3 conductors on it. I read somewhere on this forum that there is a double/twin ribbon cable for FL E46. Is this what they are referring to? My ride is a Jan 2004 E46 M54 320i.

I have been looking for compatible M3 mirrors for a long time to get these. Hopefully there's light at the end of the tunnel.

just contacted the factory again, obviously BMW changed the wiring configurations at least 2 times between May 2003-Jan 2005 so they are still working on some issues.

Ive just brought some Gen M3 mirrors from an 04 plate car and had them painted etc and was going to fit them this weekend from what you've said do you think they will fit ?? Mines a 2001 320Ci with the electric fold option.

pete I am not too sure about M3 mirrors the thing is M3 did not receive facelift (only butt life lol) so maybe the mirror wiring loom remain unchanged, are they single connector type?

BH sorry for the delay factory just don't want to release anything until they are 100% sure

hmm so the 04 OEM m3 mirrors do have the new type of wiring looms and connectors then mate?

guess we can always rewire them as long as the number of wires are the same and we know which wire goes where then it shouldn't be a problem to fit those mirrors to facelift models. Now who wants to try? :D

The mirrors I fitted were the 12pin type not ribbon. I have posted a thread in the main area titled "Got em fitted :)" with a couple of pics one of the wiring. Mine were the 6pin type with 2 extra for the autofold.

Will these fit of ar there mirrora that will fit a november 2004 build e46 saloon sport?

mate if you can let me know how many and what colour wires you have on the facelift model then I'll be able to find out whether we can re-wire the mirrors to fit facelift models. basically on the replica folding mirrors there are a total of 9 (or 10 can't remember exactly how many) and the colours are like green, pink, orange, grey, red, black, 2 white and 1 blue. The blue and white wires control the folding mechanism.

ok factory has sent me some pictures of the wiring connector they are working on. Look like twin ribbon type connector to me? Can someone varify what cars have those connectors?
