As most of you know, I like to constantly update the look of my car. I want to see if there's any new ideas out there which will look good on my car as I'm getting a little bored of the Hamann lip
So far, I've done

CF bonnet will be removed and replaced with stock bonnet in a few weeks after I've got a couple of shows out of the way. I'm looking for agressive but not OTT. I want something that is bolt on as I don't think there's anyone in the South East that's good enough to mould bits in without charging stupid money. I'm up for replacing the whole front bumper if that's what it takes so any ideas, I'm all ears.

what about a csl rep or the aqray add on? :)
BigFas
11-08-2005, 09:51 AM
I'm 2000% up for that!!!
Knowing you're the fountain of all knowledge, do you know what's involved? I cant remember how much customisation was entailed, but hell, I'm up for it.
It will help me realise my dream of putting on the ACS lip!!!!

They make a CSL rep for non-m's? Any more info?
Not a fan of arqray at all. The fitment is never perfect unless you have it custom moulded. I've never seen one fitted without gaps

Talk to you tonight. It's not straight forward as the bumper has to be cut and rejoined. So moulding involved again. Great project though.

According to this thread, it IS relatively straightforward!!!

Looks like if you use the original M3 kevlar bar and foam, mounting is a lot more straight forward. If you use the existing non-M bumper hangers, you need to cut the sides of the bumper.
You're in luck bro, as I've got the bumper, kevlar bar and foam :D

Read the e46fanatics link in the first page for an idea of what's involved.
As for pricing, that depends on your contacts :D

LOL. Not at all.
Like most things, it depends on your source for parts and labour. Like right now, I don't know how much Nick wants for his bumper. It could be cheap, it could be out of my league, same with AJ's.
Regardless, there's the paint, there's the labour for fitting. That's where the contacts come in. I've got a guy who will do the job all in for a very reasonable price, but that's because I've known him for the best part of 3 years, have given him a lot of my business ,and a few of the EvoTechnik crew have used him as well so putting a price on a custom mod like this is EXTREMELY difficult. The extreme is to have all the parts sourced from BMW which will be over £1k, then a BMW bodyshop to paint and fit, which will be another £500 minimum, so you budget £2k
I'm budgeting a lot less than that, if I can get it for that price, I'll do it, if not, then I won't

There's a guy on this forum doing the same mod, but can't remember his username. I'm sure he'll be along to give a better idea of pricing. At the moment, I'm just making up quotations on what "I" think is reasonable which could be dreamland for all I know until I do some more research. But that's the fun of modding. Researching, and getting it right :D
ted does a m3 replica frontend, "pimpMyride_uk" got it from tedster.. can't quite find the post at the moment, but its a m3 frontend on a 328.. looks good!

If I went M3 front I would definately want to fit CSL splitters and you can't fit them to a replica M3 front bumper ..afaik .. [hmm

That will be me :D , so far I sourced the 2002+ M3 front bumper covers (front & back) for £140 off ebay :) , then the Carbon-Kevlar carrier cost £50 from ebay germany but incl postage & fund transfer fee ended up being £82
so to recap:
Bumper Covers - £140
Bumper Carrier - £82
Have still yet to get the foggies & bumper mesh, they will be on there way soon though as foggies are about £80 on ebay
Then the mesh is about £60 from BMW, I am fitting the bumper myself then getting a friend to spray up the bumper (£100 ish), I have also just secured a M3 bonnet aswell to go on it.
Bumper & bonnet will be going on in the next 3 weeks :D

Yes they make a CSL rep for non M's. Revosport do one, Turner do one and i think Vorsteiner are about to make some?
Id go for M3 front with a strassentech lip molded in.

that M3 replica doesn't look half bad. Speaking to nick tonight, kinda liking the idea of an OEM M3 bumper :D, but that's a definite possibility. Cheers for that.
Strassentech looks good, but looks amazing moulded! Which is out based on my 1st post :(

Fas,
I know a top place near Colchester called Fullford Motorsport. Owners called Will. They used to do the bodywork for Ford's rally cars and Jaguar's F1 cars.
Always did very good jobs on my car at a fair price to boot.

Thanks AntMan, but no need. I'm not going the moulded route. M3 front. Genuine ACS front splitter - no struts, hamann fog-light surrounds, it's gonna look SICK!!!

M3 bumper looks coool as...... [ok
If anyone else wants to do this mod I'm thinking about selling my M3 bumper along with the genuine ACS splitter and genuine hamann fog light covers, but only if the price is right (Bruce:D)
PM me if your interested.
