Is is possible to have an Evoteck cool wall just like Top Gear, any new or current car can be put to a vote and put in to sections just like the Top Gear Cool Wall, is it worth trying or not ????

Fantastic idea...you can poll each car and end of month that determines where it goes???

All things are possible with a hook into the PHP database, a subforum and alot of polls.

But I have neither the time nor the access rights ;)

No, I'm really not. Man like hell I want that responsibility on me after seeing all the crap Mark and Raj have to put up with from us lot ;) Especially recently... Besides which, I'm sure there would be more popular choices than me if a new mod were to ever be picked (I don't think we need one... ) :p

However, I would be happy to help out with the look and feel of the website.. Because I can, and I like the community, so why not.

We can add Polls, to the Garage section.....?

So for each entry, everyone gets to vote.

We'd need a new section I guess cause otherwise it would get mixed up with the members' rides.




what you should do is:

Section Header: Cool wall
Subforums: Sub zero, Cool, Uncool, Seriously uncool

The subforums are locked out to mods only.

Main section, people can create polls in. The poll must ofc have 4 options, subzero, cool, uncool, seriously uncool.

We then need to agree some rules, IE the length of the poll (2 weeks maybe? ). Then once the poll expires - a mod can move that car to the relevent subforum and its set.

As an added later feature: "someone" could then in future build a small flash app to get the cars / pictures from these subforums and actually generate a dynamic cool-wall. I'm sure it'd be possible based on the layout described above, for someone good with mysql, php, xml and flash to sort out :)

What do you think ?

MEGA, the whole dynamic cool-wall based on content from the SQL Database, is a bit of mission for the amount of cars we probably have on this no?

We set up the Garage, and there's only a couple of pages on there...

Yeah your right. Just suggesting what I think the ideal way to implement it is whilst using phpbb. Forgetting the actual dynamic cool wall part which admittadly would probably never happen, I think the forum structure (which would only take an hour if even that to implement) would be a nice idea.

Then again, your probably right. It'd get used for a week or two and then forgotten about.
