Oh knickers - bought an IS300 exhaust, that according to the manufacturers would fit my Sportcross just fine.
Sounds amazing, no motorway drone, and comes with a removal baffle if it get's too loud for the wife :D
Had it fitted yesterday, drove home and noticed this...

...emailled the photos to the manufacturer, Prolex, who said they had never had that problem before and suggested I had the exhaust hangers adjusted, so went back the exhaust centre today, where they did there best, but it's just not long enough. I estimate it's about an inch too short to get past my Sportcross rear valance. They jacked it back up on the lift again, thinking they'd be able to maybe cut the exhaust and insert a steel section to push the end out to the correct place, but the rear suspension arm gets in the way.
Don't want one of those max powery exhaust shields, and am struggling to find a clamp on stainless trim that will fit on the rather excessive diameter of 115mm :o
Really don't want to melt anymore of my car, and love the sound of the exhaust so don't want to return it either.
Any ideas fellas? Could anyone manufacture me a trim in the next few days?
just a thought but could you not just cut the bumper a little to accomodate it? looking at the picure the exhaust looks like it WOULD have fit if it was straight but the angle it comes out at its dodgy.

Yep I would do the same. Cut out the rear valance. Plenty of space there.

Pics taken on my phone when it was up on the lift this morning...

...as you can see it really is much too short, so don't think cutting the valance will do the job [hmm

Yep, cut the valance. You can DIY with a dremel tool, that's what I did when I put my ACS tip on wayy back.
But confused. You don't want a "max power" exhaust shield, but a fcuk off big exhaust is cool? :D :D

mmm...regardless of the installation angle, the exhaust looks quite short so even if u installed it correctly, i think you would have still scorched the bumper. ahem, exuse the pun. if u can bare it, i suggest u add 2 inches to the pipe section where it is straight.
as for the bore size, i think it looks big but IS comes with quite fat ones as OEM so it isn't like Peco.

Yeah got to agree, the pipe is fundamentally too short wether fitted incorrectly or not :( , so as I see it there are 3 options:
1.) Fix the install & repair damage by all
2.) Extend the pipe by 2" & fix the damage by all
3.) Complain to fitter &/or supplier & get them to take responsibility & fix.
I would go with option 3 as it is not your fault, they need to own the problem especially on a new set of wheels like yours & it certainly ain't fit for the purpose it was sold if fitted correctly ( Sale of Goods Act 1999 - as amended)
Good Luck !
as a temporary measure, ask the fitter to add some washers or something to angle the backbox down, so that it doesn't hit the valance....
Or you could get one of them bolton jobbie's from halfords, just to extend the pipe alittle..
just my 2p's worth..

Yep - the standard pipe was 100mm, so not a great Max Power increase in size, honest!
The exhaust place did originally suggest adding an extension right were you suggested Mitsu, but although you can't see from the pic, the suspension arm is in the way :( Also they could only add sections in mild steel and not stainless. It can't be added before that point as all the hangers will be in the wrong place.
Was after a bolt on tip Tin, but can't find one big enough - haven't tried a Ripspeed Halfords yet though.
Nickleback - reckon I'll try and sort the damage myself, but once done let other Sportcross owners know the Prolex exhaust won't fit! Have posted this on the Lexus Owners Club forum too, but without yet mentioning the manufacturer's name, as they are a site sponsor - hoping they might come up with a solution before I do!

Can't really suggest much but I hope you get it all fixed nicely. :)

If you cant adjust it any further then the only option is to send it back and get them to replace it.
I think that looks cool. Japanese cars suit no other exhaust type better than that.
