hey. if its the chrome bit of the grill, i vinyl wrapped it with gloss black vinyl. quite easy to use and done it for about a fiver. just apply, used a hairdryer for the curvy bits.

iirc you can get matte black vinyl from b and q think its under a fiver for a big sheet of it, you normally find it in the kitchen area (dont ask me why lol but just is)

if anybody needs vinyl get avery 7 year vinyl. very stretchy with a little heat so ideal for curves etc. stuff in b&q might be a little brittle to stretch. £5 will get you a sheet about 60cm x 50cm. enough to do both grills plus a little error!

I bought a set of black grills off Teddy. The centre part of the kidney is already black.

I then went to BMW and got a can of aerosol paint that matches the car, this also included the lacquer. (£15)

Had some plastic primer left over from previous mods. (£6)

Had a pack of wet dry from Halfords (£3)

Outer rings detach from the centres.

Ensure you cover the clips up with masking tape before spraying.

Give the rings a rub down with the wet dry and ensure they are nice and dry before putting on your first light coat of primer.

Let it dry, be patient, and repeat process. I left it in the airing cupboard for a few hours, though could do this outside in the sun but risk flies, dust etc

When you are happy that it is nice and smove start with the paint (make sure can is warm and well shaken up)

Repeat the above process but be really patient - light layers, don't cake it on in one go, if you bodge this you will need to rub everything off. Also one more tip, when you near the bottom of the can don't use it as it will spit and leave you with a horrible finish.

Let it dry again then repeat process with 2-3 coats of lacquer - again be patient, if this runs you are screwed and will have to start again

I was uber patient and did it over 3-4 days, coat in the morning, lunch, and after work

If you can't be bothered, take it to a paintshop, probably cost you about £40-50?

Good luck, whatever you do

vinyl can be applied in about 15mins. quite easy. just like a big black sticker. if u don't like the look just heat and peel off. if left on will last a good few years. no mess, no drying time or sanding. anyone want vinyl pm me.. £5. enough for both grills
