View Full Version : My car is slammed!!

Two performance mods before the Ring this weekend but unfortunately, only one materialised......

First off, she's now slammed with TEIN SS coils :D. Drives like she's on rails and steering feels a lot sharper although if I could get the CSL weighted feel, it'll be awesome! However, the stock M3 sterring rack gives a too much leverage and the light steering can sometimes make the car twitchy. Getting used to it now.Ride is much stiffer but nothing I can't take ;)

BEFORE (Eibach Pro-Kit)

Second mod is the new Rogue Engineering short shift kit with weighted selector rod. Have to get it after seeing Tin changing gears in Germany 2 weeks ago with merely flicking his wrist. Unfortunately, installation on the M3 is a lot more involving requiring the removal of the centre exhaust, heat shield and tilting the gearbox. So because of time constraints, I will have to leave it till the next time when I get my sound pipes and do everything at one go. Still looks the nutz though even the components are in shrink wrap  .....Top quality product!

Don't worry, keeping the car in one piece is TOP priorty at the ring, even if it means letting Clios through ;)

Will call your chap later next week to ruffle up some pricing ;)

Handling is better, chassis is flat and steering is more responsive. The inital vagueness in the steering is gone. However, not neccessarily more comfortable but then, if you're looking for a comfy ride, coils' not the way forward in the first place anyway. You do 'feel' the road. I'll get used to it, after all, I rode on coils for 18 months in my old 330 Clubsport.

Speed bumps has never been a major issue. I don't drive over them anyway even with normal suspension. I roll over them, at an angle if neccesary to raise one side of the chassis first. Drivers behind will just have to wait :p

I don't have experience with steep banks, but I avoid them anyway. All depends on how steep the bank is. The M3 is taller than my 330, so if I could live with that, M3 is easy.

I have the Nikon D70S with Nikkor 18-75mm AF-S lens :)

oooow thats scary thought cause out here ive said before some back rds can be steeep and u hit it at 70+ sounds like it could be messy think i might just go for the pro's if i was city bound all the time i would prob go for ur set up nick. again looks great

hmm my friend has the d70 i was thinking of going for the d50 heard anything of the d50? a few folk said they were better than the d70 ur 1 but this was cominf from ppl who havent even used ur model or the standard d70 so i dunno what 2 shell out on?

cheers

I have no experience with the D50 although it looks very compact for an SLR. Of all the praises I've read, it's the D70/D70S or the Canon 350D. You can't go wrong with these 2.

It's the M with the flared arches that accentuates the lines. But Eibach Sportline of H&R RACE so be close.
