Hey everyone,

I havent logged on in a while but this current predicament has got me seeking advice once again

iv got a T reg BMW 316i compact, (i know its abit crap but im only 19 an shes my pride an joy :D )

So anyway, i was driving around the other day noticed it was over heating, pulled over an the radiator fluid was low but not empty, so i let it cool re-filled it with water then radiator fluid. All was fine for a couple of weeks and today on the way to work it happens again my car overheated again, checked the radiator and it was low again  so i filled it up at 10am (once it had cooled down) then before heading home at 4.30 i checked it and it had gone down slightly. I drove home and by the time i got home it was pis**** liquid from underneath near the front. I spoke to a friend over the phone and he thinks without looking at it, it might be the rad, head gasket or the thermostat.

has this happened to anyone? or does anyone have any idea what it might be?

im at a lost cause as my mechanics all booked up til the weekend. would it be okay to keep on re-filling my car each morning and afterwork with water??

any advice, tips or anything would be appreciated,

Thanks for reading

Luke

If its pissing liquid then I would not drive it! Check the hoses as first point, especially the ones coming from the radiator otherwise it could be your rad.

As mentioned, try not to drive it. Best thing, Sat afternoon, fill it up and sit and watch.

Possibly just a rad issue. If it was the head gasket, you would have more worries than that. ;)

ok, well tonight i had a little look, ran the engine until the thermostat kicks in then after a few minutes the water level begins to rise i switched the engine off before it overflowed. my old mans going to take it to a local BM specialist and get it on the diagnostics machine,

fingers crossed

check all hose connections, thermostats in/outlets, rad edges (rust/chip etc.)
