EvoTechnik! This is my first posting on the forum...After much persuasion from Tin and my bro, I've decided to make the move from Wolfsburg (I own a Mk1 Golf GTI) to Munich! Am looking at buying a 325/330CI Sport but am not quite sure as to the price I should be paying for condition, mileage etc. and the best place to buy...I'd prefer to buy from a garage as am having difficulty selling my other car (a Honda Civic Type R) and would like to p-ex...I've seen a 325CI Sport in Topaz blue, has satnav+tv, elec folding mirrors etc - it's on a Y-plate and the as the car hasnt arrived yet at the garage, the dealer told me its got in the region of 75k-80k on the clock - price is £13k...any good or should I stay away from high mileage cars? Any advice would be very much appreciated!!!

70-80K is a bit high, i'd looking about 40-55K mark. My advice to you would be to buy a genuine 325/330 Sport as they will hold their value much better than looky likey sport replicas. :D

I had a 325 which was brilliant, very revvy but lacked torque. I always thought literally after one week why didn't I get the 330 and so after only 14 months of ownership I picked up my 330. Much better torque makes it more relaxed for quicker overtaking etc and over 4500rpm the power is quite noticeable over the equivalent revs in a 325. If your budget can stretch to a 330 then that is what I would recommend, if you still go for the 325 then you won't be disappointed as it is still a very fine car.
wayhey.. nice to see ya sign up [jam welcome...
Does anyone know if there were any engine recalls/rebuilds done under warranty on 325/330's during the e46 lifespan? similar to the m3 bottom half engine recall on 03 & older..

AFAIK there were no big recalls, the only issue that does spring to mind were the spate of dodgy ignition coils but these should all be dealt with by now.

Welcome M8 [hiya
I've owned both and although the 325 is very good the 330 is better for overall performance and torque & both are very close on mpg with the 325 slighly better.
Go for a 330 if you can, probably less thrashed and stick to the original sport not a looky likey.
There are lots of good ones out there, so be fussy on mileage, spec & price :D

Thanks for the useful advice folks! Think I 'm gonna opt for the 330CI Sport and one with reasonable mileage so I can keep it for a few years - plenty of time for some mods...me thinks CCFL's are first on my shopping list!!! [ok

Yep go for 330 if you can. 325 is neither here nor there, and it's not like there's a major difference in fuel consumption and insurance premium. It has better tuning potential too [ok
