At the start of the year my house was burgled and range rover nicked whilst i was away. Never got the car or stuff back. Since then the insurance companies for both car and house have been bringing one thing and another up to make things as difficult as possible. Anyway I need to know of a good forum i can use for some advice relating to whats going on. I summarise the current situation.
Just spoke to guy dealing with car claim. has now told me he's just sent me a letter requesting furter information, why they didn't ask for this at the start of the claim i don't know. Seems to have issues with 2 things.
First one, says i didn't tell them that i was refused insurance when i took insurance out. He says that because i was not paid out on a house insurance claim a few years ago this is refused insurance and i should have told them. To me refused insurance is when you phone up to get insurance and they say no for one reason or another. I'd describe what happened to me as a refused claim. This was house insurance though so can't see why it relates to my car.
Second issue. Got a letter a while ago asking if i was using my car for chauffeuring, currently got an old mr2. So phoned the insurance company and said no i'm just using it for sdp. Explained that i placed some ads in yellow pages last year relating to setting up a chauffeuring company but got no response so didn't bother, also when the council asked if i was running a chauffeur company at the time i also told them i also wasn't gonna bother. Spoke to someone at the insurance company a while ago and they said my story checked out as ads had been removed at the time etc so all was ok.
Today this guy is asking me to list all businesses i've had over the last year and was making out they had info that i wasn't disclosing. Some time last year i also placed an ad for doing removals in the local paper but again got no response so didn't bother (only actually remembered this 10 mins ago).
So whats the score, does your insurance company expect you to tell them every time you have a business idea and put it out there to get some feedback. They seem to be comming up with everything looking not to pay out and not sure what to do after 8 months of getting messed around.
Oh they now want details of my previous house and car insurance, why they couldn't ask for this months ago i don't know.
