Finally changing my wheels,
For reasons I wont go into just yet until the deal is done - I'm swapping original clubsport 18's for other 18's - however the new wheels are 8.5J's all round and not 8J's on the front.( no, don't ask why not 19's - will explain eventually)
Question:- will my existing nearly new PS2's which are 225/40 on the front be OK on the wider profile wheel & what will be the effect?

Yes. Pilots are pretty wide anyway and your 225/40 should go round the new wheels, although 225/45 will mantain the rolling diameter better. When you change tyres, go for 235/40.

Thx Nick, would it effect the rim protection given by the PS2's staying with the originals.
By going to the bigger tyre on the front, would the car become more figety & tramline worse?
I too was in the same dilemma. Have no fear though. As Nick has said, they will fit fine. I have pilot sports on my BBSs and they are 8.5 all round and the fronts (225/40/18) actually look cool and do not look stretched at all. As for the rim protection, again no real worries there. On my PSs the protection still protrudes enough to protect the rim (a tad anyway).
Probably not the best pic but will try and get a close up later.

Ok, so given the choice, ie - no cost to me, should I stay with the original size tyre & stretch it a little or as Nick suggests move up to the 225/45's ?
To start with I would just transfer your existing tyres and see how you feel. I personally like the look of the fronts in comparison with the backs. It gives quite a good look and makes the rears look even bigger. If you are not keen then change 'em later (once they need replacing) to 235/40/18. Don't waste your nearly new PS2s :D
