Alright everyone, thought id post and say hi since i recently joined on here :D

Firstly wanted to say some of you have got some proper nice motors on here, and ill look 4ward 2 coming to some of your meets at some point

Anyway im Luke, im from Colchester in Essex, i drive a Astra sporthatch but should be getting my new car sooon when i sell mine and save some money :p
I havent really done any modding to my car since i dont want it to look too tacky, and wanted to keep it neat and simple.
But i have just got, Tints, Alloys Re-sprayed, Pioneer F900bt, and a Vibe Sub, but ill probs lose the sub soon since its heavy extra un-needed weight! :p

Its my bday next monday so my insurance should be a bit cheaper, and then gonna start saving up for my next motor.
I have been looking at getting an E46 330CD model, ive heard good things about em and i wouldnt mind a diesel since i cover quite a lot of miles.

Although since recently ive been thinking of perhaps getting a 330i, but im unsure since i heard there quite juiicy on petrol.
But if i was 2 get 1, ive been thinking getting an LPG conversion may be an option since it would save me money in the long run
I dunno wether thats a great idea, but if anyone has any opinions about that, that'd be great !

Hopefully ill be seing some of you at your meets when i get my new car!

Heres some pics of my current car, sorry about the size/quality, my fone camera is pretty swag!! lol

Hi the 330 is pretty juicy, im currently averaging 24mpg which consists of mainly town driving. The 330d would be more economical and potentially quicker with a map. Depends on personal taste, im not sure i could live with the sound of a derv.

welcome mate. nice mk5 astra there, are you on astrasport? or AOC as it's called nowadays lol!

the 330d remapped would be a brilliant choice!

Iv got quite a heavy foot and like to give it some when I can. I must admit I was getting less mpg with my mk5 golf too so I suppose more power less need to drive so hard to get similar speeds.

Cheers 4 the replies everyone, and yeh i thought they were quite juicy.
I wouldnt mind either but the diesel is appealing for the mpg, then the petrol is since them straight 6 engines sound quality especially at highish revs.
But im still unsure what to get  but i got a little while to decide

And yeah shank im member of Aoc, but havent been on forums for a little while. I do like Astras but i much prefer Bimmers!

Jk, what do you get avg. motorway mpg? 30-35 maybe?

Cheers again for welcome! :D

Luke, I am your father....:p

Welcome to the dark side, young padawan.

Ok! Ok! I'll stop there... :D nice looking astra you have there, dude. Between the 330cd and the 330i/Ci, the diesels are definitely quicker, even without the remap, in real world driving and probably on track too. They can be thirsty, I'm averaging 28.6mpg at the moment with the 330Ci but wouldn't trade it for a diesel because of the noise factor. The 330 petrol just sounds so sweet. The diesel is pretty good vs. other diesels of its time though, with a quiet diesely thrum. Anyways, welcome to EvoT!

May the force be with you.

Welcome Luke:) The 330D is a nice car and you can easily remap it to get more power from it.

I dont do a great deal of motorway driving tbh, but iv had it up round 28mpg on a good run cruising around 70mph, i managed to keep it at 28 by driving carefully in town for a couple of weeks and then i got board and decided i wanted to hear the 6000rpm roarrrrrrr, the car is currently on 23.9mpg and thats after racing from kings cross to romford with my mate in his m3, as you can imagine i was giving it some as he was, before that it was on 24.4.
The 330 be it petrol or derv is a lovely car smooth and powerful, the derv has a bit more potential to get more power for not a lot of cash but the sound of the 6 petrol does sound good and wins it for me personally.
Im going to wales soon so ill see what she averages, not sure how to get the most accurate reading as it can be reset and will take an average over time, iv not reset it for months.

Welcome to the forum mate.

I have a 330ci and the MPG isn't really too bad town driving with heavy foot is about 24mpg but doing dual carriageway driving at 70mph-80mph is easy 30+ mpg. I actually drove from Colchester to Nurburg on one full tank and that was avg of 80-85mph

How did your meet go today? i would have liked to come along, but my car's in the garage until thursday, and i've got a Ka as a courtesy car so i couldn't make it. :p

Ill be up for coming to the next one though whenever it is?
And cheers again for replies, and i guess 24-28 isnt suprising since its a 3.0 petrol, but then again thats why i thought an LPG conversion could be a option if i can afford it.

Handler, Colchester to Nurburg on 1 tank sounds alright! Hope to try it someday lol

yeah I was quite impressed I reckon I could have easily got more out of her driving slower. But it's a 3.0L petrol not a 1.1 fiesta, so it has it's pros and cons but u can't beat the sound of the engine

Yeah that cant be bad lol an yeah i bet, thats the cons with the diesel, but i could probs get over the sound. You from ipswich? Post a few pics of your 330?

How much can a re-map etc get you with a 330 petrol? 25hp maybe?
Are their more performance upgrades with a diesel than petrol?

MEGA
22-06-2009, 10:08 AM
Much easier to get the performance from a diesel. Remap gets you 50-60bhp and 70+ ft/lb torque just like that. Only reason is they are turbocharged, and the E46 petrol are NA
