After viewing on Saturday, today was the collection day. Was just a little excited to say the least. Have to say it wasn't the easy hassle free process I was hoping for when buying from a BMW main dealer, not sure I'd bother paying the premium again. Never had so much trouble getting a tax disc and they wouldn't register the car to the address I wanted, but nevermind!
The shine was also taken off the experience because the wind deflector that was listed in the advert wasn't there, the salesman was quick to point out the small print of the advert and said legally they don't have to give me one. That's all well and good, but morally they should have, and a part that will probably cost me £200 (at a guess) would no doubt cost them less than half.
That wasn't the only problem either, the boot lock wouldn't work with the central locking or the remote, the salesman took it to the workshop who reckoned it was a snapped/snagged wire and they could fix it but it would mean waiting one to two hours. At this stage I had already been waiting around for about an hour and a half and had had enough. The saleman said I can take it to my local dealer and if it isn't covered by warrenty, then they will cover the cost.
After all the waiting and problems it was finally time to leave, pulled out the carpark and everything was forgotten. The exhaust note is fantastic, not smooth and refined like my previous 330, just full on rawcous! Superb!
Driving this made apparent how the milage had taken a toll on my 330, I guess you don't realise it as it deteriorates over time, but this is so much tighter. No more crashing and banging. Gave it a bit of a blast onto the motorway and left my dad disappearing in the mirrors!
Thought I better wait for him really, so we followed in convo most of the way home, I'd reset the mpg counter before leaving and I'll probably get banned for this, managed 31.7mpg over 102 miles!! That'll never happen again, but just proves what can be done on a long steady run.
Got home and mum wanted to go for a spin with the roof down, my god the exhaust sounds even better!!
Funnily enough I'm actually looking forward to going to work tomorrow, any excuse to drive it!!
Thanks for all the advice and help over the last month or so, I'm sure I'll come up with a few more questions in the upcoming weeks.
Cheers
Simon
