Am thinking about changing my wheels, had to consult the accountant as all my money goes on kids and the house but she is letting me have this one indulgence - she reckons buying the car is expensive enough :( . After having two cars with the same a change is as good as a rest. Only thing is this. The car does about 25-30,000 miles a year for work on all kinds of roads, therefore I don't want it lowered any more than it is on the current bog standard sport setup, believe it or not in some areas I go to it even grounds out with this setup  . I don't want to go above 18 inch rims so am down to what I think are the three best choices, ACS type 3, ACS type 4 or CSL reps. I am leaning toward the CSL reps as I have never seen an estoril blue four door with them on and they will give the staggered setup that the sports have. Any opinions as to whether it will look pants or good will be appreciated. May try and photoshop some CSL rims onto the car to get an idea of how it looks.

No question, (decent) CSL reps give you the biggest bang per buck. My only issue with them is that they're becoming common. Can't beat ACS wheels IMHO but you gotta go original.

So, for ya CSL reps your looking at £600 v's £1,500. No brainer.

Id go for type 4's.Type 3's are plentiful and id say CSL's will be played out soon.

Going to keep my type 135s with part worn tyres for track days. Have seen that rochford tyres are knocking out CSL reps for £555 without tyres and they look pretty good quality. Even got the little indent for the M badge which I will have no trouble putting on reps as at least I will still have genuine M wheels in the garage. Anyone know of any other suppliers that offer CSL reps at a competitive price? Also, if anyone sells the wheels but takes alloys in p/x. Have a set of E46 15" rims taken off my wifes car when I changed her wheels. They are not to everyones taste but the tyres have 7mm left all round so must be worth something.

CSL vote from me too.

I've decided to get a set for my E39 5 series :)

Rochford CSL reps dont have the dish at the rear like the genuine wheels. Teddys do;)

ACS type 4's in 18" (I think) , the 19" have a polished lip and look

Love the ACS type 4 racing ones, but -- it needs a big brake conversion behind it to make it work! :D :D :D
Could get a little expensive tho

The rochford CSL reps are not as good as Teddys / Velocity. They don't have the smooth centre that dishes out (it's more like a step). I'd go Type 4s.

I echo what everyone said. There are different types of CSL reps out there. You need to get hte ones with the dished rear and one with thinner spokes. These look OEM. Some cheaper versions don't look as good. It's either the Velocity reps or Teddy's ones.

Type 3's are been there and done that - everyone seems to have these.
CSL reps are likely to become common within the coming months due to the fact that there are so many decent replicas out there for a good price.

I say go for the Type 4. They are still new and look very different to most wheels out there. I have only seen 2 cars with these on and both were E46 M3 Convertibles - Looked Mad!

Choice is yours.....all 3 are nice wheels but thats my 2p worth :D

I really like the type 4s but I really think you need a big brake conversion to do them justice, so they may be out of the running :( .

Anyone know if Teddy sells the csls in 18" and how much, any links for a decent supplier of velocitys, or are they US only.

You can buy them direct from Velocity (http://www.velocitymotoring.com/) .

But try Teddy first as he may do them in 18s.

The offset on the front of that 5 doesnt look right, should put M3 rears on all round.
