Just bought a Carbon Fiber Bonnet put it on today, but when i got around to fitting the grills they dont fit properly, so i called the place i got it from and they said its quite normal to have to trim file/sand to make the grills fit is this right, they sent the wrong bonnet too so sending this one back dont like the vent, i just wanted the Std bonnet, there also seemed to be more of a gap between the bonnet and the wing, can the wings be adjusted to bring them closer if i have the same problem with the next bonnet they send, any tips on installing it???

I think Big Fas did this to his car. I'm sure he will be along soon to sort you out. :)

ouch. that looks very poor in terms of fitment!
In terms of fitting, there should be NO reason to adjust the wings, all of the adjustment should be in the bonnet only.
I had a problem with my one in that the bonnet release mechanism wasn't sitting properly and wouldn't open. I took it to the body shop and they drilled out a wider hole in the bonnet catch area itself so that the catch could be manouvered better and now it sits absolutely flawless with even gaps on both sides.

The bonnet was supplied (and sponsored) by Roy of CA Automotive. It's a VIS Racing item. IMHO, send it back, that fitment is WAY off

BTW, do you have any pics of the shutline on the other (drivers) side?

looks like a poorly made product to me, [bang If anything needs adjusting it'll be the hinges and catches etc, you should never need to adjust the position of the wings.

i am sending it back i didnt want a vented bonnet in the first place, hopefully the replacement will fit better, fitment probably looks worse than its is, i only put it on the car to see if i liked it didnt line it up properly or put the catch on didnt get that far.
had to take it off before someone seen it on my car

Hope the new one they send is better ? The other one is naff - did'nt like the vents at all.
I would'nt bother with them, go the same route as Fas & you'll end up smiling sooner with a lot less pain

With Carbon, it really is a case of you get what you pay for. The VIS racing bonnet on Fas's car maybe expensive, but the fit, weave and quality are just perfect.

yes , I am sorry to say the fit seems pants on that ....it may have been designed for an M3 originally , hence the misfit .
I would nothave saidit first , but I dont think that Jap style vent suits a BMW , just my honest opinion.
If you get no joy with the seller Ian , let me know and Iwill see what offer I can make you on a proper one
best of luck ian

I think 99 quid for cf bonnet is very cheap and I personally would have expected some form of misalignment anyway, so if you're keeping the bonnet, I would adjust the pivot hinge positions and even out the gaps. good luck bro!

true ...
Before you fork out any more dosh , try using a stepped drill cutter to enlarge the mounting bolt holes in the wings ; this will allow you to slide them in a bit to closer to the bonnet edge to close the gap . You may have to do similar to the lower wing mounting points . You may want to use enlarged washers beneath the OEM wing bolts to accomodate the enlarged holes .
Don't forget to apply primer at least to the bare metal hole edges after drilling and re bolting the wing .
good luck , post up how you get on .....
