OK, as fasr as I can remember, the last time I slept was Thursday night. It's 4.30am on Sunday and I'm here posting this because I just had the BEST Saturday of of life [cool
The story goes like this.....Tin had some work done by Kellerners on his M5 and was due to collect his car yesterday from Kellerners in Dislaken, near Dusseldorf. Since the M5 is meant to be a performance saloon car designed to take passengers, Tin felt a bit lonely driving all the way back from Germany. So BigFas and myself volunteered to keep him from falling alseep behind the wheel of his 460BHP beast.
We left for Stansted airport at 4am Sat morning. Caught the one and only 6.40am flight to Weeze, arrived at the one and only airport in the one and only plane. There were other passengers of course, preventing us from plastering the aircraft with EvoTechnik.net decals......someday we'll have our private jet :D

We drove past a few farm towns with hardly any activity going on but I counted at least 5 Chinese take aways.....damn we are infesting the planet. Arrived at Kellerners. The one thing with German tuning companies is the hospitality they extend to you. Andreas is such a top bloke and made us feel right at home straight away.

Making ourselves comfortable, we couldn't resist checking out their hardware collection....

And this is the Kellerners' 410BHP M3 coupe as featured in BMWcarmagazine this month. Good to know we share the same taste in choice of rims.

Joe's (Hyperturismo) M3 vert was also there for some tune ups. 4.10 rear diff and KW coilovers.

We were joined by Timo (Swedish track devil) and his E39 M5.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v392/peppernick/KellernersNurburgring014.jpg
Tin had his new 3.45 rear diff and Rogue Engineering SSK fitted. To complement his latest mods, he has the the full manifold, kats, centre X-pipe, silencers and rear boxes upgrade. His car also sports Kellerners' high performance cams, velocity stacks and engine management upgrade.

Not long after, both M5s with new mods were on the ground ready to roll.

A full tank of V-Max and we're off. Tin's car is a real monster! With all his mods, I would think he has the most powerful NA E39 M5 in the UK. 460BHP on Kellerners' dyno and with the shorter rear diff, the car is a rocket train. I've never experienced G-Force in such the manner I did today. Overtaking in 6th with the pull from the monstrous V8 was nothing short of amazing.
The Germans love the M5. We got several thumbs up bombing down the AutoBahn. They love the CCFLs and xenon fogs too.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v392/peppernick/KellernersNurburgring043.jpg
The mods had to be tested out and where is the better place?

This is my maiden visit to the holy grail of motorsport racing. After all the fuss I read about the Ring on forums, I've got to do it one day and today was the perfect taster to the most challenging road curcuit in the world.

Soon after, Timo joined us and the cars flooded in. My my.....the most expensive car park in the world!

The car of the day was the Porsche 911, and there were quite a few of them.

For those who hasn't been to the Ring, I thoroughly recommend it. It's unlike any circuit in the UK. It's not only challenging but the way the public event is run is so straight forward. None of those drivers' briefing, helmet, pit lane crap. Everybody is grown up and respect one another on the tarmac.
It's worthwhile remembering that the Ring is not a race circuit, it's a road circuit. You do not race one another, but against your own pace and time. Use your mirrors constantly looking out for cars and bikes around you. Always let the faster cars/bikes through by signalling RIGHT and never ever overtake on the right. Overtaking is only done on the left. Drive at the pace you're comfortable with and not push yourself and your car beyond what you can realistically control. Local knowledge of the circuit is very important and I would highly suggest that you ask someone familar with the circuit to take you out for a ride so that you can get a feel of what should be done.
We didn't stay too long as we had a ferry to catch so we left at 7pm. It's good to know you can share the same changing room with the stars ;)

The journey back from Nurburgring to Calaise was great fun with Tin driving the nutz of his M5 so we wouldn't miss our ferry. We arrived on time but picked up virtually every single insect of German, Belgium and French descendent that happened to fly themselves into the path of the charging M5.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v392/peppernick/KellernersNurburgring094.jpg
I love this pic of the ferry.

It has been a long but thoroughly enjoyable day. Many thanks to Tin for the opportunity to tag along and Fas for providing the entertainment throughout the journey. I love it so much that I'll be going back to the Ring in August (5th-7th) this time with my M3. If you're free that weekend, come along. I assure you that you will not be disappointed!
I hope you enjoyed the pics.
