Want to improve the sound on my bmw and need to know what i need to do to replace the sat nav screen. i know the hole needs to be filled in order to get an Aftermarket headunit in there.
Peppernick has just done this to his car. Please tell me where you got the parts from

The panel is custom made. There isn't an off the shelf piece for the E46 at the moment so the dash mount has to be made from MDF and moulded in resin and fibreglass. Andy of IceCold audio can do this for you.
Alternatively, you need to buy a skeleton frame from BMW that is found on cars with no sat nav screen so that you can mount your headunit onto the frame and getting a single DIN fascia from Caraudiosecurity etc to cover the headunit. You would then have to move the climate control panel a step up (no big deal as it's plug and play). However, you will then also have to buy the sunglass tray and it's skeleton frame from BM to fill the bottom half.
I suggest you go the custom route.

Not sure about X5 in specific but I would have thought the principle is very similar. Andy did Craig David's X5 install so he'll be the best person to speak to.
