I need some new tyres on the front of my E46 M3, have always run it on PS2s but am not convinced they are worth the extra cost.
I see that a lot of people on here use Falken FK452s or Goodyear F1s, but would i notice much difference, i don't track the car and about half of my mileage is done on motorways, I'm on 18 in. wheels if that makes much difference.
Looking to save a bit of money if possible as have just renewed my BMW warranty, had an Inspection I done, and spent over £1,500 on new wishbones, bushes and a few other bits and pieces, so feeling a bit poor at the moment!

I have heard a lot of good stuff about the f1's. Falkens are cheap for a reason :p

Cheers, don't want to put anything on that is going to be rubbish, to be honest the PS2s have been good but whenever i buy them i always end up wondering if they are that much better to be worth the extra money. Will have a look at the F1s, my local tyre place always does some very good deals, is that what you run on yours?

No i run ps2's :D, but i have taken them off for now, as i got some conti 2's to get rid of. Conti's seem ok too, but not as good as ps2's
I have never used F1's or Falkens, but i read a few things about them on mtorque, and it was good recommendation for the F1's

We have got Goodyear Eagle F1's on the back of our demo car (toyo r888 on the front) and i also have them on my 328. Very good tyres and worth every penny imho.

Alot of people on hear recommend the Falken's

Mystic sport for one.

Most that recommend them also take their car to the ring so its not as if they dont try them out ;)

Had pilot sports on my 328 and a thought they were an awful tyre. Had Kumhos after and at half the price were a much better tyre in the rain especially but also in the dry.

I'm gonna play devils advocate and say go for the PS2s. They've never let me down so far and IMO you get what you pay for.

If I had to choose another, it would be the Goodyears.

Will have to check out the prices of the alternatives then, if there isn't much difference - changing fronts, rear PS2s still fine - might well stick with the PS2s, especially as could be selling in the next 12 months and will probably look better if all the tyres are the same brand.
Was half-hoping you'd all say the alternatives were rubbish which would have made it an easier decision!

Mate....try Pirelli P zero Rosso tyres.

I put them on the M3 and they were quite impressive in the wet. It only ever rains up here anyway:mad:

Semi slicks on the front, and normal tyres on the rear?? shouldnt it be the other way round

Dammit just as I was thinking Falken's will do, now you got me all paranoid over the Falken's being rubbish again.

It's strange, a lot of people on here rate Falkens big time, one of my best mates swears by them, personally I don't like them at all, apart from price and the ridiculous amount of miles you can get out of them, F1 Assys are superb tyre imho, I'd definitely recommend them, or Khumo KU-31s

The reason they are on there like that is because at the the time we were messing about trying to learn how to drift the car, we do have R888 to go on the back we are just waiting for the eagles to wear out.:D

Just been quoted £175 each for the fronts including fitting and balancing from my local tyre place for the Michelins, which seems pretty reasonable, so I think I'll stick with them for the sake of what I'll save changing to something else. Have always used the Michelins and never had a problem so seems silly to change. Cheers for all the advice.
