Had to buy a bulb from my old dealers as it is local and I thought that as it was only £10 then they are not making too much from me. Anyway, my old salesman comes out and is suprised to see me looking at a CSL they have for sale - yes I am interested in it, but as a day to day car with no arm rest it will be a pain :P . He then asked how my 325 was and I pointed to my 330 that he lost the sale on because he was being too gready and offering a pants deal. Obviously wanting my business he asked if I wanted a test drive - well, I wasn't going to refuse!!!

Bloomin heck, mother of all things holy I need this car. The response of the chassis is almost telepathic and the noise is race car like with a mental induction sound and I mean MENTAL.

Love the seats, and the carbon. All in all it is something that I love but why did they not offer it with a proper six speed manual rather than flappy paddles, really detracted the experiance but have I said WHAT A CAR :D

Haven't told my wife that I have driven it, haven't even told her I have looked at it. I also would need to convince my company that I need a two door car (company rules state that all car allowance drivers must purchase a 4 door  ).

Just got to find some way of getting one. If it isn't this time round then maybe I will be on the hunt next year for one in sapphire black - still don't think the CSL has enough visual impact in silver grey.

Oh, and it would need the top speed limiter removed ;)

Here is a pic of the exact car I drove:

And here is a pic of the CSL I would like:

I keep flitting between the idea of an E90 M3 four door , the much anticipated E90 335i but now the E46 CSL plays a sly hand  .

Erm, quick, very quick. But it was the induction noise that really got me. It also got lots of looks as I was giving it some welly. It sounds so mechanical if that is the right word. Loved the alcantara wheel, and it took me ages to work out how to adjust the mirros, they moved the bloomin switch :p

Does anyone know what the difference in the CSL and M3 intakes are to make the CSL sound so much better? Can I whack one on my std M3?

The CSL intake system is completely different to the standard M3. So is the engine management system. The CSL doesn't use a MAF meter. The engine software is Alpha-N. Too difficult to retrofit. With the price of a used CSL in the low £40k, it'll be cheaper to just buy one.

Here's a clip of the wonderful CSL sound   Watch the induction flap open at 6000RPM in normal mode and 3000RPM in Sports mode ;)

Still haven't told my wife that i may be on the hunt for one :p , she'll kill me!!!

Durgesh, you have the exact car I need, it looks so much more in black. I couldn't care about the performance (that is a bonus) it is the sound it makes that gets my juices flowing - evil things!!!

Durgs,

Thought you'd been quiet for a while, and for a good reason.

Enjoy.
