View Full Version : How do you.....
get rid of dry circle marks after washing your car? Just washed mine and by time I got round it there were already loads of dry marks and leathering it didn't help.
Just thought I'd ask.

Never wash your car in the sun or when it's hot ;)
I know Fas, normally I don't, but on a couple of occasions I have done and normally i don't have too much trouble. To be honest, it isn't that hot outside today (here in Wolves), and the sun wasn't on it. Oh well. Will have to clean her again on the weekend I guess :D

Wash your car in 2 stages..wash one half...rinse..then wash the other half and rinse.
This gives the water less time to evaporate.
Get the car very wet
Then use an autogleam squeegy to get rid of most of the excess water, then leather, panel at a time..bingo!

Bin the leather, use a Microfibre cloth, it's quicker and you can clean the MC

Is the water hard in your area? This creates white marks when it dries.

Some jetwashes have a distilled water option on them which contains very little or no minerals. So when the water dries it leaves no residue.
Theres one near me in Southend, I'm sure they exist elsewhere too.
Good luck mate..

I have in the past actually washed and leathered (autoglym synthetic something or other) a panel at a time to stop the marks appearing and I use a squeegy before I leather aswell.
The water is very hard here in Wolves and there is a jet wash here that has the de-ionised rinse, but I don't use jetwash/carwashes on my baby :D .
Cheers for the responses peeps.

Always have a clean bucket of water to soak your microfibre drying cloth in, you'll be suprised how much dirt still comes off after the initial wash. I wash the car and dry one panel at a time, soak the m/f cloth in the clean water and re-rinse the car then wring out the cloth and dry, I actually took a pic of a bucket of water before and after use as someone didn't believe how much dirt, including water spots still comes off. I can wash the car in 25c heat (not the best idea but if it needs washing....) and I looks perfect every time using this method.
Before use, nice and clean

Also, try adding a bit of window cleaner to the bucket of water.
