View Full Version : Cleaning ....
Well since this forums seems to be addicted to cleaning these days...
ordered a bunch of stuff from cleanyourcar (and one or two from polished bliss but i much prefer the cleanyourcar service!)..
Valet Pro - Bilberry Wheel Cleaner (1 litre)
Chemical Guys Wheel Guard
1-inch round Wheel and Detail brush
Chemical Resistant Sprayer
Handi-Hold Bottle (947ml)
Raceglaze Leather Balm
Meguiars Microfibre Applicator Pads
Meguiars Foam Applicator Pads
3M 3434 Masking Tape - Just cos it looks cool
Miracle Dryer - Ultra Plush 25" x 36"
Trim & Tyre Dressing Applicator
Chemical Guys - New Look Trim Gel
Sonus Sheepskin Wash Mitt
Started off mainly to clean the rims then ended up buying other random stuff.
Neways...
Right so it was a manic week... decided to do some of the car related stuff last friday night.
Heres the tools
http://www.rrsport.co.uk/gallery/albums/userpics/11916/DSC_0066.jpg.
I then realised after building the new garage i had not tested whether the range fits! Also the company who supplied the doors wanted some pictures so took a few snaps ;) . Fits nicely!... maybe shouldnt have spent £40 a sq metre on tiles for my garage though :D .

Right so the plan was to clean the wheels. Got the new jet wash out and put it together only to realise i didnt have a hose and its almost 3am by now   . Luckily this is London! Off to my second home. 24 Hour Hand Car wash in paddington!

I know the guys really well so have the benefit of being able to use their space. A few jetwashes help aswell ;)
Sprayed on the bilberry and 'aggitated' it with the little brush. Left it on for quite a while. Then jetwashed it off.

One of the car wash guys got a sponge and really went to work on the back of the rims!
which went from...

to this...
http://www.rrsport.co.uk/gallery/albums/userpics/11916/DSC_0164.jpg
Also the tyre/trim gel is awesome stuff. Used really small amounts. Comparison picture with and without:
http://www.rrsport.co.uk/gallery/albums/userpics/11916/DSC_0166.jpg
The wax is awesome stuff aswell. Easy to apply and doesnt smell half bad! Ill comment on the protection next time i get it cleaned.
so by now thanks to my no rush attitude, lack of need for sleep and spending more time talking than cleaning it was about 5am when i couldnt help myself. Remember that tape i bought cos i thought it looked cool? Turns out its harder to put on nicely than it looks :o .
http://www.rrsport.co.uk/gallery/albums/userpics/11916/DSC_0167%7E0.jpg
.... Ended up getting the guys to polish the car with AG SRP and add a coat of AG gloss summin. I was going to add a wax but i didnt have the one i wanted to use so ill order that soon.
....The real reason i posted this thread is i now have two sets of the same rims and im thinking of getting one coated like this but not sure how it would look on the car. What you guys reckon?

Cheers bro, looked into it but didnt have the spare headroom since we made that ceiling. Its actually two floors. Upstairs is like a loft extension just for storage :) . Theres a drop down ladder to get access (you can just see the hatch in the pic in the top right). Plus now when the cars not in there we can use it as a room to chill in (i figured it provides more insulation being double glazed than a garage door would). Even ran Cat6 in the walls  . Might get a plasma on the back wall for the xbox :D . Sit in the car and play .

Sick garage! complete with down lighters, loving it.
I've got that bilberry wheel cleaner too, good stuff and nice to know you can leave it on for as long as you like without acid eating into the lacquer. What ratio did you mix the bilberry to?
I was going to get the CG wheel guard but ended up going with poorboys wheel sealant instead. How many coats did you put on?
24 hour cash wash  , nothing like that in the midlands! not that I know of anyway, just goes to show the guys on this forum are proper car nuts 24/7!

Looking great bro
Bastard with the garage. Come on, you only posted this topic to get a pic of the garage. wheres the sofa and flatscreen though dude?
Really need to meet up soon with the 2 cars for few pics and food man..
I saw you of cricklewood broadway last weekend i think it was. Your car looks nice the way it is, but black rims will look mean.

Yea i need to setup a windows server machine to push all my private emails and cctv access which im going to leave in there. Definately will get hooked up to the screen when i find a good deal on one.

Thanks,
I mixed it to roughly 3:1 initially and did most of the wheels. Some of the stubborn bits on the back i used it without mixing it  . I didnt leave it on in that concentration though. Just spray and aggitate then jetwash straight off. (i wasnt too fussed neways cos it was the back of the spokes).
I put two layers of the wax on. Im going to get a durable wax aswell like collinite476s just to add ontop for the protection to last ages :).
Yup carwash is awesome. Busy aswell. Alot of chauffers (obviously!) but also alot of serious metal when the weathers ok. Most nights have phantoms,f430's,cayenee gts/turbo, a few range sports, maybachs  . Its popular not only because of the opening times but also they use Autoglym products for everything. So like i tell people if your going to get your car washed you might aswell go there!

No rush. Now i know the car fits so nice probably allow any sofa! Just need to get a phantom to chill in :D. Probably wont fit though

Probably was me. Number plate usually gives it away from far.

you have a good bit of kit there afif, i use similar for the valets.
your wheels look absolutely stunning and you have a gorgeous car!
anything you reccomend that im missing? Im going to get a foam lance when i get a chance.
My favourite product which i havent listed above is autoglym QD (instant show shine). Works awesome after a wash and drying with a plush MF. Might try out a different brand aswell when i get a chance. Something with more antistatic properties.
I need to get some cleaning gear man
lol I also want a foam lance.. Af we might as well share one ;) You buy.
Moe, if you commit to always cleaning the car yourself its a serious full time job. Big time. After putting 3 coats of wax on the car your not going to want to go california car care and let them strip it all off again... :p
i might get one tomorrow. Finally got the cheapo jetwash working :D.
The main longness is the first clay/polish/wax after that just quick washes are easy enough and providing it doesnt rain lasts ages imo.
The surfex hd is awesome for arches ect... The dodo juice shampoo smells good and works good. Clayed the whole car and it was barely dirty :D. Dodo juice fur is awesome aswell.
I would recommend the clearkote vanilla hand glaze. Its a glaze that can be applied before the wax. I was recommended to use it when i had my black golf. It gives such a deep wet shine, looked like the car was literally dripping wet. Used it on the first mega detail on my golf, been using it ever since.

 Nice!!!!!!. I dont have the guts to go at my car with a machine yet. Plus im trying to learn how to clean the car without inflicting damage before i pay someone to machine it :D . Ill probably give the glaze a try next time i wax it for the winter.
cheers guys, did a fair bit of reading before I detailed the golf, didnt use a rotary polisher so was fairly safe.
I will be going at the beemer sometime soon before summer, so watch this space. The imola red should hopefully look sick once detailed properly.
Afif, it depends what machine you use mate. If you use random orbital polisher, its damn hard to cause any damage mate, you'll be fine. If anyone ones to give it a try, feel free to borrow mine.
ps. Now have an orbital polisher. he's only got like a buffing pad though atm need to get a polishing pad too
cheers for the offer pav. Might try it on another car in the house and see how it goes.
Got this stuff on saturday :D
