Our Eisenmann Distrubutor in the Usa have just fitted an Eisenmann exhaust to their demo E92 M3 and did before and after dyno runs at an indpendant dyno and achieved a gain of 16bhp at the wheels just from the exhaust  :D
shows what a really good exhaust system it is :D

Can someone also translate the meaning of HP at the wheels and hp at the flywheel for me please :)

wow very impressive result! what did the eisenmann factory came up with initially?

Flywheel power is only ever a mathmatical estimate calculated by the dyno software, hence why we thought the wheel power would be more relevent. However this would typically equate to a flywheel figure of around 18.5 bhp

Wow!quite an impressive figure.
A remap should squeeze a few more ponies out of it as well.
Not bad at all

So there was no cetre pipes, or race cats/de cat, just one backbox ? ? and it made an improvement of 16bhp !!!!!? !!!!
BMW M must be slacking to loose that many ponies in the backbox !

Was thinking the same, must be a full system for those gains or as you say Raj, BMW have dropped the ball with their knowledge on exhaust back boxes.

wish i could get that many ponies from a back box on my e46 :(

We also agree and thought it was high, but it was run on a dyno for our usa supplier IND Distubution on an indipendant dyno, and these were the results that came back. As we always say with American dyno's they always seem to run higher than european dyno's but even allowing for this with a % taken off its still approx 14bhp :D

Would BMW really drop the ball with millions of euros dropped into designing this car? Perhaps the 4L V8 is highly stressed already and it is slightly detuned for longevity.
Or maybe BMW wanted to piss of Audi with an RS4 matching bhp figure.
I must say those are impressive figures though. Got a sound clip?

Detuning an engine via the exhaust backbox wouldn't make the engine last any longer Ben. The engine would for example be at its tuning limits and simply be strangled by the exhaust. I know the figures are real but I am still really strugling to understand how changing a couple of silencers can yield such a big BHP increase. You would normally struggle to achive those figures with a full system. I know you do on the E46.

You accheive that figure easily on the E46.................just by putting the OEM one back on. :p
I wonder if anyones ever done a pressure/flow test on the boxes to see how much difference there really is from one to another.
Seems too impressive to me. Most applications don't see any real difference just from the back box (full system would be another thing). Normally the CATs are the most restrictive element of the system.

That's some serious gains... would be interesting to see the Outside Temp's on each day.

I know lots of people saying the OEM exhauts on E46 M3 is the best and i never dyno mine's but i am 110% sure mines pull faster harder after my rear box changed.

So is it the full system or just a backbox ? any pics of the system ?
14bhp is still a hell of alot to gain from a backbox, surely BMW are not strangling their engine with an exhaust.
The E46 M3 exhaust in design and efficiency is the best out there, its only its noise which is a bit crap, i remember Nick posting info about the exhaust ?
Also BMW design some immense systems for a stock production car, unless they really have dropped the ball ?

I do agree with you Raj:D think you can only get that from a map tweak.

i've just triple checked with our Usa distributor and they can confirm that the car was completely standard other than the Eisenmann rear race level exhaust. No re-map no other exhaust mods just a complete standard car other than the Eisenmann rear box.
I do agree with you Raj:D
You know it makes sense to lol

thats well impressive if it is just the back box .
