Hi folks,
For the past few weeks everytime I've got out of my car, I've heard a loud squeak which sounds as if its coming from the rear offside shock.
Could it be that the shock absorber is faulty, or a broken spring etc?
Thanks in advance :)
Could be the shock, but have known for it to be the rear handbrake shoes. May need adjusting.

my money is on the hand brake shoes. try bobbing up/down in the car with/wthout the handbrake on. common on e46s

Fingers crossed you guys are right. I guess its better than replacing the spring or shock. But then again, it would be a perfect excuse to lower the car :D

As above, 99% of the time handbrake needs re-built or adjusted.

If the handbrake needs to be re-built, is it likely to be about an hours labour at the garage?
p.s. thanks for the help, first time i've ever posted. top site! (only been a member since 2005!!)

Should be no more than an hour really.
