I have the following Cable Set (http://www.aeolus-online.com/catalog/pics/Bmw_Carsoft6__5_For_Auto_Maintenance.jpg) and the carsoft software.

Is there any freely available alternative software that can be used with this, I've heard of Inpa but can't find any links.

cheers

Hi dw_uk2000,
I use INPA, which is a lighter version of GT1 used by BMW, I use this (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-BMW-INPA-EDIABAS-INTERFACE_W0QQitemZ290284849515QQcmdZViewItemQQptZ UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment?hash=item29028484951 5&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1301|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A13 18) cableset and can check errors, reset errors on all the cars ecu's.

I have even used it when my dad locked his keys in the boot of his coupe to pop the boot as you can send commands to each of the cars systems.

It even gives you injector flow rates, MAF measurements etc.

Have found it invaluable, recently used it to diagnose 2 faulty injectors on the 330d

Thanks for that Dan, do you know where I can get a copy? Have tried the usual sources.

Have had the EML light show up a couple of times and carsoft hasn't really provided me with much information, would like to check it out first before taking it to an independent and possibly fix it myself.

Cheers Dan

Jazzman,
You would need the leads posted above & the INPA/EDIABAS software;)
and ideally a laptop running Win 2000/XP with a serial port.

I take it these having something other than the basic wire connection it he box that make it work with the software then :)

Each piece of software requires different leads, I used PA Soft Scanner which used different leads again & required a black box.

Carsoft uses different leads again.

INPA has its own leads (as above) which as far as I am aware, which you need to use with the software.

Hi Guys,
Will pm you all the links when I have got it uploaded;)

Unfortunately there is not an instruction manual, but it is straight forward to use & I don't mind answering any questions;) :D

I have used it on :

E46 330d N57
E46 M3 S54
E87 1 Series 116
E46 320cd N47

Has worked everytime, have not tried it with any other variants as yet.
