Alright mate,

I'm trying to get a rough idea of what I want to go with before anything is started (Credit card must be cleared before I do anything IE pug must be sorted and me be payed out).

Is there anyway to get a double-din touchscreen (W505) into the E90, that sensibly can be done without huge work, and also can be undone and put back to stock before the car is sold. I've seen double din e90 installs but they fucked around with the climate control panel to get it in. I can't be doing that lol.

I'd ideally get the W505 and blackbird units for navi etc.

Otherwise it looks like a flipout and full alpine DVD navi are needed? Or are there other options.

Very rough opinion on which way I should go?

I'll pop in so we can work everything out properly soon...

Can't help you any more than that I'm afraid, I tried to contact them but one didn't reply and the other wanted £300+ for the fascia and cables.

You need to code your car to tell it the radio has been removed or relocate the radio using the cable they supply.
If you don't do this BMW can't diagnose your car if it needs it.

Dont know to much about the install, but i had a flip out which was a compromise for the double din unit and i was never happy with it so have sold that and got a 505 like i should of from the start, all im saying is get what you want, not what you have to get, there are ways around everything, a double din install in a e46 is by no means straight forward but im gonna do it.

Recoding the car isn't an issue. Andy has done this before and knows what the deal is.

What I don't want to do is anything permenant to the climate controls which is what alot of the installations in america have gone for. The car is PCP and will eventually need to either be returned stock or sold with mods privately at a reasonable loss.

probably suggest the d106 single din then mate as you wont have to cut anything......

Fair play, was just wondering if you thought there was an easy way around it.

I'll dissapear till my credit card is sorted :) And then be in touch.

My bro had a d106 in one of his cars for a short while. Good unit but the screen appeared a bit flimsy and didnt have a sturdy feel about it, unlike the alpine double din units.

I've played with the flip outs before, not least in Nick's installs. If its the most realistic option then its what I'll do :)

Unless you think the d106 is worse than the old d309 (guess work on the name!!) or whatever it was called? (the one that needed the whole big brick thing for ipod connectivity rather than just the cable.. ) ?

Anyway. I'll go single din I think.

The ipod interface on the d106 is full speed and is way better then the box of tricks on the old 310.
