A Newcastle ware recently asked about the cities apparent homophobic attitude:
"I have never heard such rubbish" he responded
"We have a thriving gay community, it's called Sunderland"

Hmm, tempting..... Never knew there were a few evotechnikkers in the North East.
I might come but won't take new car around the track. Would be too scared to deck it :) I'm going to be doing several track days/drift experiences etc in the UK though to gain instruction. The car will end up at the ring soon :)

Why not? Doing a track day in the UK and instruction isn't going to help you at the 'Ring. If anything, if you go there with instructions on how to drift you will be over confident and are more likely to crash in my opinion.
My first track that i ever drove round was the 'Ring, and i took my M5 there about two weeks after i bought it. Just bring the new car and pop your new car 'Ring cherry :D
cheers
I've been around before but very slowly and I don't think I know any of the corners. I shat myself going around the carousel and through the fox hole.
Then again, considering what happened at the fox hole 30mins earlier when my father in law was driving its no wonder :p
I've never driven RWD before so definitely want some experience on correcting etc before I take it to the green hell.
Still, I'm up for the convoy I'd say!

There are a few of us!!!!! :D (one North East meet to be planned then!! ;) )
Ferry from Newcastle to 'Dam is about 12 hours. So the usual plan of attack is:
Drink beer. Eat a curry. Drink some more beer. Donate many British Pounds to the casino. Go to bed.
Strangly enough, its the same for the return trip.
Makes for a cracking weekend. On last April's trip, I have never laughed so much from start to finish.

`Kin hell Carlos, are you really an engineer ?? :p
No-one was expecting you to drive to Newcastle to get the ferry to `dam then get the ferry back to Newcastle and drive all the way back down to Essex.
Anyone down South will get the tunnel (30 mins) or the ferry from Dover (2hrs)

That's the opposite of me and my mate driving from Dundee to the Chunnel then to the ring and back again a couple of years back.... Twere nuts, we were.... I'm too old for that shit now, that is why the ferry sounds tempting. I shall confirm with my mate.

Ferry for me this year, £59 return. Less than half the price of the tunnel. I thought the ferry was only an hour?

Dover-Dunkirque is about 2h and imo, thats the best ferry to take from daaan saaarf as it puts you pretty close to the Belgium border and away from the french and their car-impounding ways..

Chunnel everytime - easiest route - although currently things aren't great what with 1 tunnel being closed.
If you take the ferry Dunkirque works well.
Last time I cam through diesel was cheaper in Belguim than France - I didn't check petrol prices

Crossing to Calais is 1:30h and to Dunkerque its 2:00h
Dunkerque is also 30 km closer to Belgium.
£59 is not too bad, though Norfolk Line is very good on pricing you can get some off-peak crossings for £15 each way!

£50 isn't bad to be honest, saves about £80 compared to the tunnel which converts to a couple of beers and a tank of fuel :D
obviously the beer is the better option

Mike - better if you come down to London. Wife takes 3hrs to drive up/down from Newcastle/Durham to my place in London. 1.2 hrs from my place to Folkstone. 30 mins to Calais. 5hr or so to the Ring. Better time and deal:D :D :D
