Rossi, you can still get this silver mesh, it's just cable tied onto the existing mesh, unless you go for chicken wire, I don't think you can get one that fits in the OEM position.

And thanks for the other comments guys :)

Nick, think of this mod as my "intercooler" ;)

Looks excellent Fas. Did you just put on top of existing mesh? If so, how did you fix and where can I get some!!!

Another great idea to pinch!

Mark, it just attaches to the existing grill. Believe it or not, it's just cable tied :) but if you do it properly, you won't see any cable ties unless you know what you're looking for.

It cost about £90 from www.umnitza.com their sales and after services is flawless. They're based in the US and they sent me the wrong mesh initially, but without even waiting for me to send it back, they sent out the correct one. I still haven't got around to sending the wrong one back as I've been away on business, but they're still cool :) I really like it, it was one of the mods where I didn't know how it would turn out, but I think it rocks

modding with BMW is funny innit, you want to turn silver chrome bits into black bits (i.e. chrome kindney grille to black out kidney grilles) and turn black thingy into silver (i.e. black mesh to silver mesh) LOL

someone needs to have a word with BMW designers....

:D

But if the designers did that, the black grills and silver mesh would be standard (Sorry, i realise that is a swear word!). Then we'd still be changing it to be different! ;)

yeah I bet if the OEm grilles were black and mesh silver, we'd still want to change them the other way round LOL :D that's the thing innit?

reverse pshycology :P........Destined to be individual even if it costs most than we can afford or doesnt look as good as oem. Thats the way modding goes lol.

Mesh looks really good, think it does work best with a darker car. Have been looking for a woven mesh for a while to go in my montreal blue e36, if you recommend them so much might give them a call.

PS - Any idea how much shipping was from the US?

Where are you based? I still haven't sent the original one back which was sent in error and i have a feeling it's for an e36, could you send me the dimensions of your front grill? I will measure it up.

If it's right, I'll sell it on to you and will pay Umnitza and you can have it immediately. It cost me £95 including delivery. Let me know if you're interested, otherwise it'll be back on an airplane to them later this week

I'm based down in Southampton.

I've got a standard e36 m3 front bumper. Will try and get out with tape measure later.

If it has any stickers or paperwork with it, the one that would fit from the umnitza website has code: [E36RM3V1]

There's no paperwork with the mesh, it came in a box and the label said e46 Mtech and it was only when I offered it up to the car that it was obvious it was wrong.

If you can get me the dimensions, i'll measure up the mesh, if it's a fit, job done.

Hi

Bumper is a standard e36 m3 bumper with the usual wide thin 'rectangular' grill opening, slightly narrower at the bottom. The dimensions are: Top edge 60cm, bottom edge 57cm and 13cm tall.

If its exact match as per the umnitza website with the rubber gasket around it would be interested.

BigFas

Will measure as soon as I go home. It's 100% from umnitza, includes the cable ties and has the rubber gasket around it. I only had the mesh out for 1 minute, as soon as I realised it didn't fit, I put it back in the box

BigFas

Sorry for taking so long getting the measurements but I just remembered now! Anyway, a quick check and I don't think it's going to fit.

The one I have is:

Top edge : 72cm
Bottom edge: 64cm
Height 13cm

Nevermind :) I'll send it back to them tomorrow. If you want one, go to www.umnitza.com, they'll sort you out

Nope doesnt sound like it'll fit. Ah well thanx for the thought!

How much postage did you have to pay and did you have to pay any duty (did they 'devalue' it for you for tax reasons on the packaging).

BigFas

I paid in total $120 inc. delivery. I actually ordered away from their website, I contacted him directly via e46fanatics. And they did devalue it for me and I didn't pay any import duties. Delivery was within 5 days of the order too

Thanks Fas

Did ordering the mesh through e46fanatics get you a discount as see they are normally $149?

I got Matt's contact details from e46fanatics. As I've been a member there for over 2 years, he knew of me and gave me a price. Just drop him a line info@umnitza.com
