Do i need this if i wanted to hear my ipod while in Navigation mode?

I will be using the Alpine Iva 505 with Alpine Ne099 navigation system. I was told in order to hear my ipod while in navigation mode i would need to order one if this

I have the W505r and the NE099 sat nav and dont have that lead and the music plays fine when in sat nav mode mate.

I was told you need that if you have a processor like an imprint or the H700 in you setup.

I had KWv3 installed on the car, am not sure how low it was dropped.
