I want to get one for my Alpine docking headunit but wondered if anyone has ever used one before? I have heard that it's not very good as a unit but don't really know what else to use with my Alpine headunit.
Any advice?

nah defo not as good as the n099 dvd navi drive but then the price difference is quite big. depends how much you gonna be using it. if you gonna use it loads then go for the n099.

I been told that the screen resolution with the N099 and W505r is not very good.
Have you ever installed both the N099 and W505r?

I have this exact combination. And its identical to the pairing with me W200 and N099 if not better. Search my ICE thread I think I took pics also. If your coming to the NW London meet you can check it out.

Cool, so you have the W505r and N099 and you don't think the Nav resolution is bad?
I been told it's like looking at a computer screen with default 640x480 resolution when both units are combined.:D

Just seen your ICE thread and all looks ok to me. Why didn't you install the Alpine Bluetooth instead of the parrot unit?
Also is your parrot connect to a seperate speaker or does it come through your front speakers?

I had the alpine bluetooth BM the old one and I didn't find it that reliable, the call connection success rate was like 30% so I got fed up of it and got the parrott. There's a new one out now the 350 which I'm yet to hear reviews for. If its a real improvement then will get it to replace my parrott to have it all integrated.
And the parrott comes out through my front speakers, don't have a seperate speaker for it.

I got 105r and blackbird b100p- the first version. Comparing to 077 model( never tried 099) 077 much better in a way thats it gives more precise direction + quicker redirection +accuracy. With blackbird if you in a area unknown to you :) on a little roundabout you will lose the track in no time. Its doesnt show which exit to take and you really have to watch both -screen and the signs.
but its portable, you can use it in another car and it shows speed camera locations and traffic lights so its got its own pluses. But yesterday it went into welcoming mode and not waking up at all. I have read that in USA they had an update after which ubits become faster and more precise so tommoro I m gonna call Alpine and see if they got any updates for uk market.
