Some interesting figures I read off another forum.


Registrations stall in September as SMMT urges government action to restore confidence

Total September sales down 21.2% compared to September 07.

YTD sales down 7.5%.

5 consecutive months of decreased sales.

BMW sales down 24.11%

Mercedes sales down 9%

Chevrolet Corvette down ....... 72.09% :eek:

Best seller in September ....... Vauxhall Corsa :)


Ups - Audi (2.49%), Chevrolet (6.56%), Daihatsu (4.41%), Daimler (7.41%), Jaguar (10.34% thanks to the XF), Kia (18.1%), Lotus (4.61%), Mazda (0.55%), Nissan (7.3%) and Volvo (13.45%).

Downs - Aston Martin down 24.53%, Bentley 22.83%, Cadillac 30.53%, Corvette 72.09%, Honda 17.25%, Land Rover 24.31%, Lexus 29.16%, Renault 23.42%, Saab 29.85%, Ssangyong 53.5% and Tata 50%.

And... I still reckon the worst is yet to come. Fast forward 12 months and that's when the real impact of the recent economic volatility coupled with increased VED rates, inflation and potential unemployment will hit.

It's good news if you're planning to stirke a deal on buying for cash, but bad news for those selling....

I now work within a Vauxhall sales depatment. Business does seem to a lot quieter in the past few months according to the sales guys. We did sell loads of Corsa's. Also used cars up north are expensive for dealers to buy.

the first thing to go out of the window in an economic situation like this will be that planned £500 a month finance package for the nice new BMW/merc etc.

Cars must be the second most financed luxury behind property.

I have no idea what the dealers are going to do, especially the independents.

There must be a lot of GAP companies shitting themselves. :D Expect insurance premiums to rocket next. ;)

E46 M3s can be picked up for 11k with 60k miles on the clock now!!! its a joke :(
