what have you done to your M3to get it in a mag? Performance or show?

They wanted a car that is used - lots.
To show what an M3 is all about. Forget about weekend M3s, this thing does 30k miles a year minimum, then gets ragged at the Nurburgring. They want to show that an M3 is jack of ALL trades. They liked the understated look which is functional for what its use is intended for, mobile office one day and track car the next.

The car is looking awesome, almost my perfect M3 in fact. The wheels, carbon side grilles and red calipers look amazing on silver-grey! mmmmmm. It's crying out for a CSL bootlid though IMO. T'would finish it nicely.

defiantly a great looking M3, best colour out of the non Individual range of colour and a great looking car from the pics, remember it might be a well used car but it must look the part to be featured and your does.

Thanks for the compliments guys, hopefully the proper photos and writeup will do it some justice.

This is something i have been contemplating ever since I got this car BUT, what stops me is the colour. Being silver grey it is one of the two OEM CSL colours and I fear putting on a CSL bootlid is like me saying I want the car to be something it is clearly not - a CSL. If it were in any other colour (save sapphire black) I would have probably done it.

If you put a csl boot, you will need a csl front bumper to compensate for the downforce that the csl boot produces in the rear.
Not sure if that is correct, but it sounded smart :p :D
Your right mate, dont make the car something it aint. Thats what has stopped me from getting one.
I cant wait to see the pics, they are going to be awesome.

I disagree that people gain the reputation of a CSL wannabe/try-hard with the CSL boot. I know it's a touchy area but the CSL bootlid makes such a big visual difference to the rear end (particularly on the three quarter angle like your pic) that I think it can easily be justified. There also are'nt any other options.
The rear looks good regardless though so it's personal preference at the end of the day :).

Not going to add to the debate about the bootlid  ,however congrats on the feature.I firmly believe the features in mags shouldn't just have highly modded cars in.
Congrats Paul. Well deserved as she is a great all rounder (as you say). Look forward to the full feature (which mag though)?
Sometimes its what you don't put on a car that makes it special instead of what you do.
If that makes sense.

TotalBMW Raj. Same writer and photographer that completed Alex's feature. Really decent blokes. Have seen a couple of rolling shots and they look good.

So wait putting a CSL bootlid on will make people think that you are trying to be a CSL, but having CSL wheels, and modified fog inserts to have an intake hole instead of fogs (albeit on both sides) doesnt? I guess I must be missing something...

Paul, congrats on a feature in a mag, I would love to get to the mag also.
but as per CSL bootlid or other things- I call it --modding, and its your field to create that ever you want from your car. Or keep it standard.

nice one mate, very well deserved! Matt and Matt are a good laugh and actually enjoy what they do as opposed to the guys who took the photos for my LRW feature. He was just a photographer and had no interest in cars at all.
If i had an M3 i don't think that i would put a CSL bootlid on it, but that's just me and it doesn't blow my skirt up. I wish i hadn't put M5 mirrors and a quad exhaust on my old 530i as it took a little bit away from getting my real M5. Until i turn it on and drive it :D
cheers

Finally ......some proper pics of your silver grey....:D
Stunning m8 and i look foward to the magazine shots. BTW i`ve always felt like buying the CF CSL bumper and leaving the spoiler tip CF whilst blending the rest of it silver grey.
