When getting car insurance, does the address on the insurance have to be the same as the address on the V5 log book?
Reason i ask is that my car insurance is alot cheaper if i put my relatives address in when getting insured. Its about 25% cheaper.

Risky in my opinion, insurance companies would pick up on it in the event of a claim. You could lose your cover if they catch you out.
Ok thanks, if its risky ill can just inform DVLA that i moved house. Do you think that will cause any problems?

Well then you would need to consider changing your licence address as well, see where all this is going? Not sure how much in terms of money it would save you,but the aggravation of all the changes would stop me doing it I think.

Why take the risk to save 25%. Your are invalidating you insurance and companies will find anyway to get out of paying.
Its your own choice but if the prove your lying about it they can terminate your insurance and other companies will know you had insurance canceled in the past.

Yes that's true, but if he has stated he wont be using the car during working hours then they want the address where the car is kept during the day and night.
But when you use it to commute they know the car will be kept away from overnight address.
In the end whats the point risking invalidating insurance, for a few quid you drive a 330 so petrol is more expensive then insurance lol.

Yeah that's correct to an extent some companies may ask where the car is registered to. Different companies have different ways of doing the same thing
So its all okay if you are leaving your car at you relatives but from the sounds of it you just wanted to put it as the address for cheaper quote not actually leave the car there.
