Hi, I've just upgraded my SatNav software from v29-1 to v31 and now my SatNav isn't working at all... now the menu doesn't have the navigation option...
Has anyone come across this before and has anyone any ideas to resolve this? :(

You got a doggy software most likely. Change back to V29 for now and find a proper V31 then do it again should be ok..:)

I concur, the v31 you have is duff and it has crashed your mk4, get hold of a good clean copy (from x5world).
Once you have downloaded the file, unzip it (using winzip or similar) into a sub-dir on your pc.
Then use imgburn or similar (http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download) to burn a new
(blank) cd with the new downloaded firmware image.
Unzip imgburn, then v31 image and then open imgburn, and select the "write image file to disc" then select the v31.mds (i think) file.
Select the write speed as x1 (or the slowest rated seed of the CD) and then burn on a good quality cd.
When its finished writing your new firmware cd,
Goto the car open the drivers door,
Goto the nav computer and press eject on drive,
Eject the map disc,
Switch ign to pos 1, leave door open.
Insert firmware disc into drive, follow instruction on nav screen.
Wait (approx 6 mins) till sat nav asks to eject cd and reboot.
Eject cd,
Confirm reboot.
Thats it.
Do not switch off ignition or close the door when doing the upgrade.

Badz, you may want to have a look at customizing your splash screen while your at it, this is what I have in mine, if you need a hand just PM me.

Thug, V31 has updated the nav computer to accept dual layer map discs; this is how BMW will now roll out their map updates in the future.
Some of the DVD drives are very temperamental when reading backups, it's a bit hit and miss, did you try another type of media and/or write speed with the map disc? this sometimes helps.

Yeah I did mine a while back but upgraded last night and everything just went wrong... its possible that I burnt the CD too quick (48X). I did attempt to down grade it last night too but it didn't read the CD, gonna try and down grade it again tonight and reburn the v31 image at (1x) speed.

x48?? thats why I would say, lol.
x1 speed or the slowest rated speed for the cd, that should do it.

Glad I could help mate, it should feel a bit quicker and the graphics should render a bit more clearly. Did you not fancy a custom splash?

2004, bummer, 2008-2 is out now and you can replace/upgrade yours at the dealer for a reduced price (£99) i think, but thats still over priced for something that needs replacing twice a year...dealers would sell a lot more if they sold them at a reasonable price.
Have a look on eBay, they sometimes have newer (well newer than 2004 anyway) map discs for reasonable money.
Not a lot of help I know, but you never know... :)
