Is it a R.E audio sub???

Saqib
31-07-2008, 10:13 AM
My bet is on a 10w7 or a focal sub. But box looks too big for a focal or w6 so gotta be a 10 w7 or alike.

DUDE you need to go baller style if your going to get into the audio game. A car looking that sexy can't have anything other than a RE XXX or a JL W7 imo...

I'm basing this on Mr Fas' reaction. Sort it out buddy... I expect to hear you from Harrow :p :p :D

Nice set up

I am a Focal speaker fan. Had a pair of 165 Utopias in my old M3 and they sounded really good.

Depending on which Focal speakers you use and how they are set up, tweeters on the A-Pillar can be very harsh. In my experience, running 3-way passively is a lot more straight forward than linking them up actively, but you lose the ability to adjust them in more detail.

I might start throwing mine in this week to be honest. Only one 15". Not had time to build the huge ported box so just a teeny sealed for now. Does not do it justice. :(

I might have it all done by next weekend and then im good to roll. Have to be soon since im off to Cancun soon. :D

Nick, if you were gettin harshness from tweeters on the a-pillar, do you reckon you could lose that from changing the direction they are firing? i.e having them facing each other instead of at you?

I was thinking of moving my tweeters a bit higher in my astra to try and raise the staging but am worried about that harshness.

You want to fine tune it, equalising comes into play. But you want all speakers in front and facing you given an opportunity. You don't go to a concert and ask the band to play away from you? ;)

Why are you putting those speakers up on the a pillar? Surely a footwell build would have been a better choice?

Why's that? Maybe for security purposes. But for sound quality, you can't really get better then putting them as close as possible to where you want the sound to be coming from. Unless you put them in the dash infront of you, or the actual windscreen!

With the tweeters in the footwell it would be more difficult to tune the set-up to make the system sound as if its coming from infront of you at eye level. Putting the speakers on the a pillar means your halfway there already.

Nice and shiny there dude, will take a closer look on saturday.

As for speaker positioning, he's got the main drivers in the footwell already, these are mids and tweeters, which as Saqib said, are better higher up.

he likes titties in face hence why he put them soo high so when he drive he gets pleasure at the same time, thats what he told me :p

its all about SQ dude... have u ever thought why your songs on ur pc sound so good... its cuz the speakers are sending sound directly 2 ur head... having speakers on the a pillar replicated that... like ur at a concert and the sound is cuming from the front...

i no they are big and look LOUD... but the whole car is loud so they fit in perfectly...

should be getting the car back 2morow... fingers crossed...
