Are any of you under 25?

Im trying to get a quote on an M3 but my existing insurer (directline). Wont touch me. So if any of you are under 25, who do you use. Or if anyone knows who would be best to try?

Cheers

Elephant were good for me.
Beat the next best insurer by over £200.
Apply online.

Adrian Flux is designed for the younger driver.

Alternatively, pick up a copy of Max Power, they have a number of specialist insurers in the classifieds

I started looking around for M3 premium when I was 26. I could get quotes from most of them but the premiums were horrendously ridiculous. I had to wait till I'm 30 before I could justify.

Have you tried AdrianFlux? I've heard different opinions on them but unless you claim regularly, it's worth giving them a try.

What about BMW insurance? A lot of people don't use them but they are actually quite good. I know someone got insured with BMW for an E39 M5 at 24.

Another one to try is Liverpool Victoria.

Once you've hit 30, there's only one insurer to go for......TESCO

Ive had a few quotes back but all £5k + which is stupid.

Ill give Adrian flux and bmw a try.

My friend took em to court as they claimed he never told em about a claim 3 years previous, and they charged his credit card an extra 800 quid for the privelidge! (tis longerstory lol)
I have had more trouble with them, changing details over, number plates, modifications etc
Many of the users on Ford sites i use HATE them with a passion. Honestly, its not just a few people that i know of. Its just their prices are so low, young un's cannot turn em down!

I was insured on my Escort Cossie with Bell Direct, customer service is 2nd to none, cheap prices too. I was 23, 6 years NCB, garaged, modified es cos all for £971 fc!! [ok [ok

hm 5k+ is stupid man, I am 28 and am with Direct Line, paying 1160 fullly com per year. Used to be with Tesco 2 years ago (26) but found Direct Line is slightly cheaper (no idea why) so switched to them last year.

why don't you get the car insured under your parents' name?

Used to be with Bell Direct for the past 4 years! all was going well and then for some strange reason my premium went up for the 1st time so I had to shop around (Bell Direct weren't wiling to reduce their quote) and now with Norwich Union.

You will be surprised, that some of the BIG boys out there actually quote the lowest.

(This is on a 330 mind)

Cheers Flex - Elephant quote 3k for me or 2k through my parents.

Ive always had a good deal out of Directline who im with on the 330, but for some reason they won insure me till im 25, and dont really wanna wait 2 years for an M. Funny this is though they will insure me on an R34[hmm

I feel your pain guys - I'm 25 and paying 3k a year :( That said I have only myself to pay. Can you believe it, 0 (zero!!) years NCB. I will have 1 years NCB by the end of July this year, so I'm hoping (praying!) I can get it down to at least 2k a year....

My Anniversary Golf GTI doesn't seem to be able to shake off the £1300 a year premium despite gaining 1 years NCB though.... it is only group 16.

I say bite the bullet and get the car, you can always pay monthly installments on the insurance, right?

I got my M3 at 23, I've been with BMW Insurance (08700240520) from the start of my ownership. I've got eight years full no claims bonus, the 1st year I paid £1400 currently I'm paying £1200, I'm 26 in Oct so hopefully it will be about £1k?

Lee, try Tesco.co.uk. Im 23 with 3yrs no claims and a clean licence. On my 330ci sport i was paying 695 fully comp and they were happy to insure me on M3 to value of 27.5k fo 1470 providing it was fitted with a tracker.

Liverpool Victoria. £1,150, 5 yrs NCB, 31 yrs, car kept on street, shitty postcode.

By the way, how feckin' young were you all when you got M3's? I've been slogging my guts out since I was 24 and I can only now afford afford it. Most of you based in south east right? Must be the fact that cars cost the same there but you get paid more for the same jobs?

Either that, or your parents aren't as tight as mine!

Good luck with finding the Insurance Lee, I know DirectLine won't do it till you're 25+. How about trying some Insurance Brokers just to see what they can come up with?

Btw thanks for the ride on Sun in the 330, that whip is fast dude :D :D [ok

Elephant charged me £1600 for the year on an M3 Coupe. That was having just turned 25, with 4 years NCB in London.

A few tips to bring your premium down:

1. Add your mum or dad (or both). Experiment with each. It's fairly random and can change year on year, but one of them nearly always brings the premium down by about £100 - £200.

2. Try decreasing your mileage. Doesnt work for all ins companies, but can do with some.

3. Increase your voluntary excess. Online quotations will only allow £250 I think, but call them up to have an excess of a lot more.

4. Play about with the occupation option. Sometimes the smallest difference can have a massive impact on the premium. An example: IT Consultant or Computer Analyst.

Also go them to include every extra for a tasty price.

Ill post the full spec list when i order it. Which will hopefully be next week, all depends on signing my contract for my new job:D

The Cinnamon is only available on M cars but if you opt for re-trim, depending on the quality of leather and the extent of the re-trim I would guess you're looking at at least a grand. This guy did it to his M3 but went for the extended version to include the steeering wheel and dash.
