Looking for some 19" tyres to put on the HREs. I know that the front needs 225/30/19 and the rear 255/30/19. However I was wondering if anyone here ran 265 for the rears on a vert sport set up?

I remember reading on e46fanatics one time that people could run 265 on the rears with a sport and had no problems i.e. rubbing. Car is not lowered and have no plans at all to lower it, speed bumps are a killer already.

Ask because there seems to be bigger choices with 265.

no1 can confirm that 265/30/19 will fit with no rubbing?

It'll rub if you run eibach pro kits like mine, bro. not sure about standard suspension, but I suspect it will under hard cornering

if it's non-lowered, the only way it'd rub is under huge bumps. Can't see it rubbing under heavy cornering. Though the HRE's you have have a very agressive offset, so just bear that in mind when you make your decision. My car was dropped, and I ran 265 tyres, but I had to have my arches rolled to make them fit. But when I say mine was dropped, the tyre was dumped in the arch, so proper low.

Also, tyre choice will affect it. Flaken's have a very narrow shoulder, which would give you more room to work with, Dunlop SP900's or pilot sports will have a more rounded shoulder, and give you little to no leeway.

Basically your sizes are a little out, and also Falken have nerfed some sizes and they no longer have the full raft of BMW sizes in 19s.

Front standard size is 225/40/19, rear is 255/35/19. Oversize could run 265/30/19 rubber fine on your car with Falkens.

Was just typing and realised that Andy was talking to you on the phone! :D I'll let Andy go through the options with you though, we'll get you sorted one way or the other. :)

Lol, yep just got off the phone to Andy. As you can tell I'm pretty clueless re tyre sizes so whichever size you recommend Dan I'll go for it :)

Fas did say that the offset of the HREs were as aggressive as you can get, so are you sure 265 will fit with no rubbing?

Am off out of the country from tomorrow for a week, would have liked to have ordered some today for when I'm back but it looks like we'll have to wait until I get back now, a date at the snowdome is pending and still have to pack :S

How long does it take for the tyres to arrive after order?

Have just checked my current tyres on 18" MV and they are 255/35/18 rear and 225/40/18 front. So with the new wheels being bigger at 19" do I not need to go down a profile to maintain the radius?

I was under the impression that you would need to run 225/35/19 on the fronts to maintain RR and then you could get away with 265/30/19 on the rears. Do a quick search as plenty are running 19s on non Ms.

yeah you will have to run a 30 profile on her.. will look like hair bands lol

Sat

p.s. in regards to the 265 they will fit but as above it will most likely rub under hard cornering and maybe fast acceleration off the lights.. but if it does just get the arches rolled dont cost that much iirc about £20-30 an arch for a good job..

hmm getting a bit confusing now.
Currently I have on my 330ci sport: Front 225/40/18 Rear:255/35/18

I had been informed that I required Front: 225/35/19 Rear: 255/30/19

Dan said that standard size is Front: 225/40/19 Rear: 255/35/19

Raj/Sat said that I need Front: 225/35/19

Lol so what size should I get?

I really do not want to roll my arches and want a size which will 100% NOT rub, also there are no plans to lower the car.

225/35 R19... thats M3 size, so thats what you should use. I´m currently using 235/35 R19 on my 330ci...

225/35/19 will give you virtually the same rolling radius as your stock 225/40/18.

just to be on the safe side why dont you just go for 225/35/19 on the front and 255/30/19 rears. im sure there won't much difference between the 265-255 in the rears.

That would be what I'd do

If the rear offset of your HREs is ET35 (which I think they are), then with 265/30/19 you might rub without rear arch modifications. 255/30/19 is a very safe choice.

However, if you're getting Falken tyres, go one size up. They are narrower than say Michelins, Pirellis and Contis. Hence Falken 265/30/19s actually fit more like a 255/30/19 of their brethen equivalent.

Back from my hols now, thanks everyone for their input.

I would prefer to stick to 255 on the rears, it's just that there doesn't seem to be much selection available for 255/30/19. I would also prefer to get a full set of tyres instead of different branded ones for the front and rears.

So it's seems like I can go with the Falkens 265/30/19 for the rears. Will give Maybank a call again tomorrow.
