The rumormongers at AutoZeitung are reporting that BMW plans to unveil a stripped-out, track-ready M3 at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show (http://www.autoblog.com/tag/FrankfurtMotorShow/). The E90-based M3 CSL will use many of the same tricks BMW employed on the E46 model in an effort to shave the coupe's curb weight. Luxuries like air conditioning, stereo and navigation won't be included, while the hood, bumper, trunk and fenders will all be swapped out in favor of carbon fiber pieces.

In addition to keeping the pounds down, BMW will reportedly boost the output of the M3 CSL by an additional 50 horsepower, for a total of 470 bhp. That should allow the E90 CSL run to 60 in around four seconds, on its way to a top speed of around 185 mph.

Production of the 2010 BMW M3 CSL (http://www.autoblog.com/tag/2010BMWM3CSL/) will be limited to 100 units and pricing is estimated at 90,000 euro, or just over $140k.

there is no claim in the Autozeitung article that the M3 CSL will be limited to 100cars only.

Autozeitung does not open a rumormile they only report a officle BMW statment that the e92 M3 CSL recvied the green light for production. The time plan is officle debut at the IAA autoshow in Frankfurt in 2009 and customer delivery starts first in Germany in early 2010.

Autozeitung claim the price will stay BELOW 90,000Euro not that the price will be 90,000Euro.

The accerleration claim is

a) 0-100km/h(62mph) not 0-60mph
b) BMW always make conserative claims

£70k. They must be kidding. BMW may be a strong brand, but it's no Porsche. Between a 911 and an M3 CSL for the same money, I know where my money would go.
