Cleaned EGR valve - Warning light came on.

I cleaned the egr valve on my 320d today with white spirit and a toothbrush. After it was cleaned i put it back in again. Whwn i started the car the exhaust emissions light came on. Any ideas why this came on? Any ideas on a fix? Do i need a new EGR valve?? any Help appriciated!

Strange one that. I have cleaned my cars EGR valve and when I put it back in I had no warning light on the dash. Maybe you need to reset the cars ECU using one of those diagnostic readers?
