Guys,
I am hoping you can help - I need to upgrade the ICE in my car, It is currently bog standard BMW Business crap...
I have just purchased a complete DVD-ROM based MK IV version widescreen sat nav system - which is en-route to me.
I need for somebody to install that and also install some kind of upgraded ICE system.
Any recommendations on who can do it? and more importantly on what is recommended in terms of AMPS, subs etc...
I need to get ICE worthy of being on this forum... the car obviously is... ;o)

Hey man, how you doing.
With regard to ICE, you've got 2 choices, pay someone else to do it, or if you're feeling brave, DIY. One thing I have heard about the BMW sat nav is that the plug system is awesome, all plugs only go into their respective places so no chance of cocking up, it all depends on how confident you are with taking spanners to your car.
Here's an idea of how someone did it on an e46

Cheers for that Fas!
Its actually a matter of time rather then confidence..... If I can someone who is good at to do it - then fine... else I am gonna have to make time...
ANd re the ICE - my system is plainly "crap" at the moment.... need something half decent...
Do you know of anybody who would be able to install the sat nav?
Thanks

Whizz,
Just out of interest, where did you get the sat-nav kit from?

BimmerNav in US...
wow, cool link Fas, doens't seem too bad after looking at that!
I would personally try and do it all myself, purely for the fun and being able to say I did that! :D lol... but then again, I hate paying stupid labour rates too!
Taking apart the boot, rear seats, rear shelf etc, isn't too bad, but just not sure on taking out the front seats.. but suppose thats not too bad once you've done it..
It'll easily be 2-3 days to fit this Was, and need a nice warm/dry garage too with plenty of space.

I'll say the same. The last time I had 2 self powered sub-woofers installed with the help of Kav and Durgesh, the entire boot and interior and weather stripping had to come out. The only way to gain access to the wires and to identify them from the bundle. Get yourself a bag of extra door card clips too from your dealer as I guarantee you'll break a few putting them back in.
I was bidding on a MK4 nav brain on ebay recently and got sniped with 5 secs to go    ....I thought I got it....so near yet so far...........

Front seats are dead easy dude, just make sure you've disconnected the battery and the airbag wire underneath the seats. 4 screws and the entire seat comes off with the rails.
