I've been toying with idea of fitting nitrous as a much cheaper option to a supercharger and with the advantage that i can just use it on the occasions that i need it. So far all the advice i've been given is that as long as its fitted by a professional and is set up so that it comes in progressively then there shouldn't be any problems. In the past i've heard it can blow engines eventually etc but from what i've heard this isn't the case any more.
So just thought i'd see what you lot out there think.

The ting with Nitrous is that I would think , that you risk the chance of the bottle might blow up damging the car , in saudi one guy actually died as he had the bottle under his seat and it blew up and shatered him to pices.

Dont worry about the bottle exploding mate it wont happen;)
Id go for it, im starting to get the parts together for mine as i already have alot of parts left over from my last car.
I would def get a controller if your planning on running high outputs. Im planning on a 125bhp shot which should realistically give me around 140 at the fly.
And nitrous will do far less damage to your engine than a supercharger/turbo will due to its cooling properties, it actually reduces intake temps. Its also very simple to fit it yourself, but if your worried get a pro to fit it.
Most failures are down to cheap kits. Go for a wizards of nos and you cant go wrong.
And believe me, a 330 with a 100bhp shot will walk away from an SC330.

Thanks for that Lee. Everything you said is exactly the same as all the NOS supplier's have said so far but as they are obviously trying to sell the kits i thought it might just be a bit of a sales pitch. I expected to get plenty of replies saying 'don't do it etc' so i've been a bit surprised by the lack of them.
Thats it now then, time to get a bit of cash together and get one fitted maybe in time for Santa Pod. Other than Wizards of NOS who will supply and fit a pretty decent kit for £1500 is there anywhere else which anyone could recommend.

I would honestly only go with Wizards of Nos myself. By far the most reliable kits.
Ill be expecting you to put down the fastest time at POD then, without a doubt. People underestimate what nitrous can do for the performance of a car. But i guarantee you can get a 330 with nitrous into the 13's with a 100+ terminal.

Well i'm convinced now that its the way to go. Been looking at it the last few months and Wizards of NOS have provided me with the most info so far so just have to get it booked in with them now. So much for thinking that by buying a BM i wouldn't be spending anything else on it, this thing is costing me a fortune. :D

Try and get it fitted before POD, we can do some comparisons on the way down;).Plus i wanna see what setup they use. What are you going for 100bhp?
I have much respect for a nitrous car, there simply awesome. I should be pushing around 440-460bhp when mine goes in:D

Just e mailed wizards of NOS to get a date for fitting. I think 100bhp should be enough and i shouldn't need to uprate any parts. So far all i've done is the pulley's, intake and got a remap last week so still pretty standard but i know the nitrous is gonna make a big difference.
Your car will be awesome with SC and nitrous, there won't be much that will be able to touch it. Loving the wheels by the way only wish i'd gone for something similar but still happy with the way mine looks :)

Let me know when you get it fitted, we can maybe meet up. Your only 40mins away from me. 100bhp will be plenty, M3 killing performance.;)

Tell you what? What a way to go eh, doing 130 on the motorway, hit the nos button, car rapidly gets to 200mph then your arse blows up.
If i ever wanted to die than that would be the way to go for me [cool

So what kit are you going for Speed. I can get the wizards of Nos 125bhp set plus the maximiser controller (the best) for £800 delivered.

I am sorry, I think you guys have lost it.
At the trash "last year", had someone lose a spark plug head in a cynlinder... he drove back with just 5.
Had had NOS fitted. Personally I don't see the point, you have to fill it up, and its no good around corners...
Saying all that... I would love to see it fitted to a e46, so if you are really sure you want to do.. go for it mate. Make sure you get a warranty or something from the guys that fit it.

The Street-Blaster 150i-6 with 5 lb cylinder priced at £650
New Digital Maximiser prised at £399
Then they want £525 + VAT to fit (not sure if the top 2 prices inc VAT).
In total its a minimum of £1049 for the kit and £1666 fitted.
What's the kit you can get for £800 as this is a fair bit cheaper although i'm still gonna have to get someone who knows what they are doing to fit it.

Nitrous would generally not affect the spark plugs if setup correctly. It could be down to alot of different reasons. You would more likely damage a spark plug with increased boost than anything else.
The worries that come from Nitrous kits are based on the US dry kits with crappy solenoids.
Nitrous is not understood correctly, thats mainly due to Fast and furious. No it will not make your floor fall out or blow your intake welds.
With the aid of a controller N20 can be used on corners as the power delivery is the same of that of a supercharger.
N20 does not burn, it is an oxidiser. It provides more oxygen, so more fuel can be burned, and the result is more power.
Nitrous is injected at -128C which will REDUCE intake temps especially on car using forced induction.
There is no way a nitrous bottle will expode unless fueled by an existing fire, i which case you should be out of your car anyway. N20 is not flammable below 296C.
The only downside is the fact that the bottles must be refilled, but i say it well worth it.

That guy had used NOS manually , he pressed a button , and I think he pressed too long or to much, if that doesn't make the thin expliod thenteh guy wo told me the story is lieing.

Yeah is usually used in conjuction with the throttle nowadays so no need for a separate button.
Using it very prolonged periods under high loads (driving uphill in low gear etc)will more likely damage the engine than explode the bottle.
