 hi every one not been on for a bit hope you are all well, having had the E46 M3 for a month or so now noticed a bit of oil in the sump tray under the condenser area, so i thought i would take it to my local main agent where i booked it in last friday, they had the car all day and contacted me in the afternoon at 14.00 hrs saying they could not find the leak but thought it could be coming from the oil pipe on the vanos unit, but they would wash the engine off underneath and could i do a few miles on the weekend and take it back on monday morning when they would be able to find the leak. i agreed to this. after leaving the main agent i had the car booked in for an mot at another garage, the guy said to me you no you have an oil leak mate from your sump gasket. I took a look and he showed me and yes you could see it was coming from the gasket. AS YOU CAN IMAGINE i was slightly annoyed at BMW because a so called trained techi could not find this and also they had not washed the engine off at all. I then decided to contact the last dealer in the service book and find out if they had made a note of any leak on the last service which they replied yes we found an oil leak on the sump gasket, i then returned to my local dealer with this information also asking why they had said they had washed the engine off when clearly they had not, a very red faced receptionist could not answer and said he would get the manager to contact me first thing monday morning, a week later and i still have not heard from them. You would think that charging £110 an hour labour you could trust these people, maybe not?. I want to take this further any ideas would be welcome, also i have just purchased a set of brand new genuine bmw l.e.d rear lights to replace the older style items but have been told i need the light control modual reprograming by BMW has any one had this done by a decent dealer, and if so not to far from Hereford, cheers guys.

Must be the lack of adrenlin rush.

Take the car back the $tealer tell them to reprogram the lights for free and give you your money back for failing to spot the oil leak.

Another example of dealership shiite.....

Called up to find out about M3 oil service....."Well Sir, that will take 3 hours; its an M3 after all!"...."It will cost £230 after VAT"

Called up the same place a few days later (silly me :o ) ....."That will be 1.5hrs labour and cost £190 after VAT"......WTF!!

Cars booked in for oil service at Simpson Motorsports for £120 including VAT !!

nathan its a night mare mate, all you want is to take your car to the dealer and be able to leave it there knowing you can trust them, no chance of that though, cheers mate, nice motor.:)
