Driving in France?

Hi Guys,

Looking to drive down to the South France this weekend, all set to go however confused as to what i need to do with my CSLs headlamps...

How do i change the headlamp settings so the car can be driven in France (ie. driving on the right!).

xenons or normal halogen?

If xenon, inside the unit, there's a switch to flick over for LHD or RHD, it's in the manual.

If halogen, then I have no idea, but at the same time, every time ive driven in Europe I've never bothered with the switchover

Had a look in the owners manual, but for 'driving abroad' it recommends going to BMW :rolleyes:

Hi Imran - just a word of caution - please stick to the speed limit at all costs! The police is very strict with UK cars since last year, and a lot of people in this and other forums have their cars impounded and fined heavily when you do not:)

Don't know if you have one, but update your Pogo, they now have the French Speed Camera on thier database. Not that the french like those sort of units much.

Also if you go on Mappy.fr and type in your route it will show you where the fixed cameras are too (its in French) but print it out and should show in red where abouts the cameras are.

If you come up on a stretch where everyone is going slow there's a reason Ive been flashed a few times like that, doesnt really matter but better to watch out.

Whoa, I wouldn't even take the Pogo along with me. Had an encounter with the French Patrol and they will instigate a total search when they suspect you have such a device on board.
I had my Talex on the dash when we got searched on the way back across the Chunnel in the spring. Copper asked what it was, I told him it was a thing to make sure I wouldn't be speeding anywhere (careful phrasing), he didn't even blink and just carried on spreading my glovebox all over the footwell (the twat). Probably like anything copper-related, just depends who you get and what sort of day they're having!

That said, I've got more than one device, so I wasn't going to moan too much if the oldest and worst of them got confiscated. :p
