Anyone had any experience with these? I'm looking to fit some decent fronts in my E46 Coupe. I understand 6.5" need to be mounted on MDF rings on the front door.. Well these Rainbows are supposed to be a direct replacement. Anyone tried these out?...

Hi mate, cheers for the reply, did you amp them or run them of the headunit?

I have Rainbow IQ's in my E46 Vert and to be honest, I was hoping for better sound. I think the amp is the issue though (using everything as standard OEM at the moment), so looking into some alternatives. I have been offered some Sonfoni amps which are rated quite highly, problem is justifying the cost as I'm not that overwhelmed by the speakers in a retro-fit state at the moe.

i had to amp them. phoenix gold amp. crystal clear. never tried to run off headunit though. the tweeter were a bit sharp for me but solved the prob by placing tweeters low down in the footwell.hope this helps

Ask Nickleback he had Rainbow speakers + Sinfoni amplifier (one per side)
2murphyslaw:
To get a good quality sound you always have to power the speakers from the amp

if they are 13cm they will be direct fit with the speaker rings. amp them up with plenty of power for the best sound. soundproof the doors too if you can. will make a noticeable improvement.
