I have a slight concern with my car which is when Im changing gear, around 3k revs. When I press the clutch in place, I hear a "ewuuuuu" noise. And when I disengage the cluch and my gear change has been successful the noise goes. Just wondring if you would know what could be the cause. Car is 2004 320 cd with 25k on the clock.
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a thrust bearing to me

Mark can you elaborate a bit please:) The noise is very similar to an owl hooting!

Its a bearing that sits on a fork that puts pressure on the pressure plate to disengage the clutch if you see what I mean

I see, is this an expensive fix?

I'm not sure if the box has to come out on yours, but if it needs to replace the whole clutch whilst its out

I have noticed if I use full throttle, and take my fut of the power it creates the same noise.
Which box are you talking about? Will i need to replace my clutch??

A new clutch could be expensive - £245 for a new disk + labour
BMW quotation would be around £500 ish mark (VAT, high labour charges and all that shit). I would recommend to go for a performance clutch.
Get one ordered by Roy.

Aaftab, it could be the pressure plate resonating with the clutch disc itself. Not sure if yours is an auto or a manual, that can add other factors in, but yes if you have to work on the clutch then replace the entire thing as you won't want to pay that labour all over again should the disc fail shortly after.
Best thing is for us to have a look and listen to what you're describing, but it seems like you've got it booked in somewhere already, so see what they say and we'll happily quote you for the job that they diagnose.
FYI, as a guide price, you shouldn't be paying more than £200 for a replacement clutch on a 330 unless it's made of solid gold ;).

Thats exactly what i was going to do. The garage that ive booked is close to my work and they offer a collect and return. I'll have to pay a diagnostic charge but once i get the diagnosis im coming straight to you.

Eisenmann being at fault! What kind of BMW specialist did you take you car to? :D
Do not understand whats the relationship between the clutch noise and the backbox

The noise is actually coming from the exhaust and it come when i lift my foot off the throttle, not when i press the clutch.

Speak to Roy as that's where you got it from? He maybe aware of the problem?
