Looks Like I will be stayng in Malaysia for a few years now, so time to think of a new car. I am getting a brand new Toyota Hilux next week for work, and want a fun car for other times.

After working out my budget, I will have less to spend than I thought as I am putting more into a business, but I still have a budget of just over £31k (RM200k)

I have kind of put anything European to the back (although thats what I prefer) as parts and servicing is not so good here, especially if anything goes wrong. So that leaves me with Jap Wagons.

Choices within my budget are:-

2005 Subaru Impreza STi (Version 9):
Pros - Lots of power and great to drive fast, it doesnt have the same "chav" image as it does in the UK
Cons - I am not big on the looks and think the interior is shabby, but boy does it go

Nissan 350Z :
Pros - Interior is nicer than Scooby STi (and thats saying something)
- Looks quite nice IMO
Cons - Felt it was underpowered compared to the Subaru
- Only 2 seats and small boot space

Honda S2k - Also within budget but have never driven one. Heard they are great but you have to rev them to enjoy the potential. Something I will consider tho

RX8 - Not really a fan but its within budget

An E46 330Ci (2002) is still within budget but I am still contemplating whether or not to get someting European out here.

WHat do you think out of the above?

ALso can anyone suggest any other Japanese cars that you think may be of interest? I want something fun, fast, nice looking etc.

Unfortunately, an E46 M3 is out of the question as a 2002 car is well over £40k

Thanks
Jordan

Hey Jordan - long time no speak:) Glad things are working well with you and is your gf going to stay back as well?:)

As far as I can remember; RX8 would be a better choice as you can easily get parts as the Mazda RXs are renowned for tuning in Malaysia. In that sense; you an still get back to the tuning world:) I cannot say anything for the rest....

Hey Jerome.

Yes she is going to stay here. She has got a job teaching English to Korean children, so at least she has something to do.

I am going to test drive an RX8, just to see what its like. You're right about tuning etc here, quite a few people have them

Cheers
Jordan
