We are looking at end of next week before the meet at SMs for completion of the whole install :D :D ......Can't wait.
One thing I love about Andy is that he takes on-board your idea and come up with something very appealing, like he's tailored to understand your individual taste!
The entire console is pressure fit but cannot be removed unless you remove the top trim. We actually had to take the headunit out a few times during the install to check spacing, so de-modding is definitely not a problem.
Will post more pics tonight of different screen display. I didn't know the X1R already has built in speed and G-Force sensor, a volt meter in the shape of a guage on the screen and plenty more trick displays. I just love the 3D sat nav guidance screen, makes things sooooo easy!
An you think factory MK4 DVD is fast, this is twice as fast. The Alpine is 5X as fast!!!
Nick that looks pretty slick...almost got me thinking, but i'm going to stick with my original idea...at least your old bits are going to a good home :D
nice one nick.. coming along very nicely..
But.. just an idea, from the 1st pic, the headunit seems alittle protruding from the fasica panel itself, a small (perhaps silver) trim around the edge might be nicer? as the start button has the chrome outer ring already, which makes it look even more oem.
just an idea.. have to checkout the pioneer's new satnav features! keep on [jam dude!

Tin, the headunit is sitting as far back as it can go. Needs ventilation at the back. Furthermore, when the fascia comes off, the edge is already flushed with the alcantara.

How is the GPS hooked up for the SatNav? Is there a standard antenna somewhere?
Shuriken.

Antenna is under my tax disc holder on the dash. Small enough to be out of sight from inside the cabin.

That's just how subtle it is, I didn't even notice it. :o
I love that satnav display, the 3d map and the menu both look cool.
