Has anybody ever applied for an extension on their private plate which is on a retainer certificate?
I bought my plate last year through a web based company and now they want me to pay them an additional £50 on top of the £25 retainer fee for extending it for another year!? I have no problem with the £25 but i dont understand why I should pay someone to sign my certificate for £50. Can I just sent this to DVLA myself and 'pretend' to be the purchaser. At the moment im a nominee on the V750 certificate and to get an extension the 'purchaser' (i.e the web company) needs to sign.
Any ideas???
Apologies to mods if this is not in the right section

Do you have a receipt for the plate bro? If so, report it to DVLA. You should only be paying £25

No, did you give you an invoice for thee purchase of the registration? Even if you don't have it, talk to DVLA. They may be able to sort it out

Dont think I have the invoice bro, as the webco is the grantee/purchaser they are the legal owners of the registration mark! I think im gonna have to put it on my car now! which i didnt wanna do

It may be a hassle now but you won't have any problems in the future bro, especially if you decide to sell it

Its cheaper (free) to assign, rather then to keep it on retention, and you get the use out of it
Correct me if i am wrong but surely the company that sold you the plate is taking the piss by keeping you only as a nominee on the plate and not the actual owner. then asking for £50 for the retention is further piss taking

yes exactly mate!! this apparantly a legal lope hole that all these @ssholes exploit. The £50 is to cover "admin charges" and they went one step further my asking me to send a stamped address envelope as well!!! shameless b****s
Moral of the story is if you get a plate from a private company you have no choice but to put in your car. Once the plate is on your car YOU become the legal owner and then its easier if you want to shift in on later
The nomination expires on the 20th of this month so hopefully I can get it all sorted by then
