The quote above was in my local newspaper, but didn't have clue until today when a collegue pointed it out to me, now everybody in Barnsley knows, The write up goes like this.

Pill on a plate

PEOPLE usually use personalised car number plates to bolster their ego or to advertise their name or buisness.
So Ferret, (that's the editor) wonders what the owner of a BMW parked in Barnsley was trying to tell us with this one: V721GRA......My number plate with playboy symbol on and small text saying "DRIVE IT HARD".....The number plate actually turns more heads than my car does.....Cool

Another question is though are newspapers allowed to print my reg number for eveybody to read, I don't mind like, but would love to know if they can.

V721GRA E-46 323i

I don't think there's a problem with them quoting your numberplate, as long as they don't disclose anything personal like your address and/or attribute it to anything detrimental, illegal, or derogatory. I'd be careful if they printed a photo of it though, the police may take a liking to that if you've done it in 3D and decide to send you a congratulations note.. ;)

The only problem I can see is if some little "funny person" who works at the DVLA or whatever decided to look up your V5 docs to find your name and address, but thats a pretty slim chance I would reckon.

Interestingly though, anyone can go on the RAC site and find out details about a car using the number plate, nothing interesting, just colour, model etc, but still quite useful. Especially if you are looking for a new car. :o
