Sorry, posting frenzy. Was parking the car the other night and had the stereo up so I couldn't hear the parking sensor beeps.

Up shot was I whacked, quite hard into an Escort. Luckily, the alarm didn't go off and I pegged it off to a different parking spot (nice, I know I know, but we've all done it).

Got a first look in daylight today at the rear of my motor and the front of the Escort. The Escorts number plate was smashed and looking a tad sorry for itself with the bumber hanging a bit lower than it should. Nothing dramatic by any stretch of the imagination.

Any way, I was gob-smacked to see not even a mark on the back of the Beemers bumper. The only annoying thing is that the Escort had no caps on the numberplate screws so theres a small indent of a Phillips-head screw. I can live with that though.

Just had to tell you this coz I'm usually the one that comes off worst in this type of situation. Also, kinda like coming clean in a way :D

Its simple, I use the mirrors to check I'm not going to fcuk my alloys on the kerb, not to see if I'm going to hit the car behind.

Also, bit of a fud comment coming up, but I also drive a Corrado VR6 and you simply sometimes forget you have a boot!

[high horse] put yourself in the other guys shoes, imagine if you came back from shopping or wherever and your number plate was smashed cos someone bumped into it. Happened to me in London when my car was 4 days old. I was ready to kill someone [off high horse]

just thought id say they sensors turn on when your 1.5metres from an object. Im still amazed it happened :p. Although this is the reason i usually park offroad in the drive.

Well lets just say I am very bitter over a similar incident. A range backed into my mom's car while it was parked.

Looked at it when I came back to the car and saw the number plate broken. On further inspection noticed some scratches on the bumper. Went home and saw steam coming out the grill.

Anyway....they smacked the car so hard the screwed up the whole ac unit until behind the grill, the grill is cracked, the bonnet doesn't fit on the car properly and scratches to the bumper.

The car should be back today..but lets just say I am very very bitter!!! Over one and half g's worth of damage...over 2g if done from mercedes!
