Tried to start my 330ci at the weekend and the battery was flat. This happened about six weeks ago and I had a new battery put in. I do about 500 miles a week so it's not as if it's being left unused. I did notice that the wipers were on when I turned the ignition and also the speakers were hissing with the ignition off. Has anyone else come across this before?

your alternator might be buggered, or a loose connection causing the arcing. how much ICE have u got?

The car is totally standard although it does have electric seats/mirrors, satnav, HK stereo, aircon etc... All of which I make use of.
It may be the alternator but shouldn't there be a light on the display for this?
Also the tyre pressure sensor light was on but pressures are fine.
I've got the car booked in now. I just wondered if anybody had come across anything similar.

Hissing from the speakers may mean you've got a short somewhere on the audio, unless you use one of those tape-adaptor-thingies for an iPod or something cos they hiss all the time when the head unit is on anyway. The other possibility is the boot interior light staying on, that's been seen before a few times and will gradually take the battery down if left for a few days.

 It's happened again. I drove to Birmingham (100 miles) and left the car overnight and the battery was flat. Luckily, this time I carried a set of jump leads with me. I drove back home and the next morning the battery was fine.
My local dealer, Cooper Banstead, can't find anything wrong with it. I've left it with them. If I don't get this sorted this time I'm going to have to sell the car and get something more reliable. I'd love an M3 but can't really afford one at the moment and am losing faith with BMW and the dealers. :(

Usual crap BMW technicians that can't find faults. Get them to check that the car goes to 'sleep' overnight. Sounds like your car isn't because of the electrical faults.
If the $tealer still can't fix it, call an independant for advice and / or mail Honest John from the Daily Telegraph.

I just got it back from the dealer. £202 and they couldn't find anything wrong. They put it to sleep overnight and it was fine in the morning. BMW HQ got in touch with them on my request but still found nowt wrong. http://sankeys.demon.co.uk/images/smilies/frown.gif
they charged £202 and found nothing?!?! Surely thats unreasonable.

jcross,
Cooper Banstead are my local dealer & they are not good.
If you need a good $tealer then use Vines @ Salford (Redhill), rates are cheaper & ask for Owen in service who should get it sorted for you !
PM me if you need help
