I heard about these a while ago but never been able to fine them, looks like a normal number plate but a the flick of a switch the numbers are gone, would be a great thing to have even better if you could change what it read for show/off road or some one following behind :D
these gotta be as illegal as smacking a copper [crackmeup.

I like the idea, worth the risk to me as i can only see it being a problem that the plate does not conform to DVLA specs. So a worse case senario would be a £30 fine and a VDRN (14 day ticket to resolve the offending item). Cheeper than 3 points isn't it

hi guys
you are talking about a product we trialled two years ago called PRIVA PLATE ....we discontinued it because the manufacturer of the LCD "screen "went out of business ...
it was a LCD impregnated perspex sheet that would blank out when a current was applied across it ....would have been good for avoiding congestion zone charges etc :)
Was it illegal you say ??Ummm yes , just SLIGHTLY :p
sorry guys

hi
we used to sell these as well .They DO work ....HOWEVER , they are so obvious ( look like a mirror from any angle except straight ahead ) that , like I was , you will get pulled OFTEN .
Now despite what plod will tell you , these do NOT contravene current law because there is nothing in the relevant statute that says the numerals must be clearly visible at ALL angles of incedence , HOWEVER its the fact I was getting pulled almost daily and they would fine tooth comb the car as are a result ...just too much aggro
would be interested to hear Alex's opinion
thnx

Sorry guys Im not to hot on these things as I dont have to be up on the law aspect with living in Jersey, there are many things that we can get around as we dont have DVLA testing or MOT (so things like plates etc are raley checked) Saying that most systems used by UK police are tested in Jersey first so if I get nicked for something I can grant you that guys probably will)
Ill check up with my lawyer and see what the script is with regards to what consitutes a "visible plate" like what Roy was saying with regards to "it must be seen from all angles"
Saying all this I run my BM round on black and silver plates (but im foregin in the UK :D )
